In the news,
‘Moss’ and ‘GORN’ Join the Platinum Club With 1 Million Units Sold

Moss (2018) and GORN (2019) have become the latest VR games to reach the 1 million unit ‘platinum’ mark, earning an estimated $22.5 million and $12 million, respectively, in revenue. Multi-platform development was key to their success.
Although both games were only available on a single VR platform at launch, over the years they were eventually ported to every major platform: PC VR, PSVR, and Oculus Quest, underscoring the importance of reaching across the spectrum of VR platforms to maximize success. Both games have consistently held position among the 20 best rated games on Quest.
I have played both games thoroughly. Moss is one of my all time favorite VR experiences. Amazing story and gameplay. Gorn still surprises me as a game that is so popular, as I found it rather bland and uninspiring. It has a decent arcade feel, but doesn't have the same gratifying experience of completing an epic storyline like Moss or mastering expert levels while burning calories like Beat Saber.
Speaking of Beat Saber, according to the article, it still reigns supreme as the VR Game most purchased (sorry, Alyx).
While these are certainly successes for VR titles, they pale in comparison to VR’s bonafide killer app, Beat Saber, which has averaged a whopping 121,200 units per month and an earned an estimated $180 million as of early 2021.
Overall though, it is amazing to see multiple titles hitting the 1-million units sold milestone!

Two games I still haven't got but Moss is so tempting, not sure what I'm waiting for!
I think having both a Rift and Quest, I've gotten into the habit of choosing cross-buy games each time I feel like spending some money, I really like using both. Maybe if I get another 30% discount code, Moss will be the one.
Pretty sure I would have bought both of these by now if they were CB.
Yes, I'm cheap.

This is a great time to invest in Moss since it also has the free DLC. I really doubt you would be disappointed, Daft. Moss is one of those games that is good regardless of the VR implementation.
And if memory serves, the time investment isn't excessive. Moss can be played for 30 minutes to an hour per day and you'll still progress nicely. There are few titles that captivate me beyond a quick 30 minute playthrough. But Moss was one of those games where I would set aside a large block of time on the weekend to complete. It's one of those titles that stays in your mind for awhile.
Anyway, I don't want to build it up too much, as few things can live up to hype. If you end up buying and completing Moss, Daft, I would love to hear your thoughts!

I still haven’t bought Moss. Like DaftnDirect, I probably would have by now if it supported cross-buy. I don’t like being made to choose between platforms. I should probably just buy it on Quest, because I’m much more likely to play it there.
I did buy Gorn again on Quest when I had a discount code to use (originally bought on Steam), but haven’t played it much. It’s fun in small doses, but maybe a bit lacking in depth. Mainly I just have too many games in my backlog, so it hasn’t been a priority.
Anyway, it’s good to see more titles finding success as they branch out to multiple platforms.

I have the same feeling. I want to have the option of playing it anywhere and have other people enjoy some play. Less of a thing these days but hopefully some time soon sharing my headset will be a thing again. So Quest would be my first choice with Moss.
There's a few more cross-buy titles I haven't got that stick out... Journey of the Gods for one, but Moss is probably top of my list.
Those 30% discount codes can have a negative effect on sales, causing you to wait for the next one before buying something. I got Wraith with one of those.... 30% off and two versions of the game... feels like theft 😮

I beat Moss on PCVR, but it isn't very graphic intensive, and I would imagine that it would look great on the Quest platform as well. Especially considering that Moss is originally a consoleVR title.
I actually didn't realize that Moss was ported to Quest as well! That's pretty awesome. Though I agree that it should be cross-buy. Hopefully the devs make that happen sooner rather than later.

The only reason a dev wouldn't offer cross-by is to try and recover the cost of developing both versions which is completely fair.
But if people just buy one version that doesn't work. They'd be better off offering cross-buy and increasing the attractiveness of the purchase. I wonder how many people buy both versions???

Moss is definitely one of my favorite VR experiences/games to date. It hit all the right levels of nostalgia, fun, and challenge for me. Good storytelling and just good fun. I'd highly recommend it if you're at all into puzzles and storytelling.
