I thought I'd upload a video of some gameplay from Damaged Core, as there didn't seem to be an awful lot on youtube that highlighted anything past the first introductory sessions. So if anyone's interested, then please take a look!
As for my impressions, I found it to be a really solid VR FPS that tackles locomotion and the lack of touch controllers very well. I can't help but feel that with touch controllers this would be a lot more fun and immersive (having your weapon and body rotate with your head kinda drags you out of the immersion sometimes), but that said I found myself getting sucked in really quickly and ended up playing for hours.
And on a similar note to long play sessions, this title is perfect for anyone who suffers from nausea during VR. I've largely grown accustomed to the sickness after playing a lot of Elite Dangerous and Eve and don't really feel it anymore, but this has hands down been one of the most comfortable experiences I've had. The teleportation mechanic makes sense in the game's story, and works very well for creating a unique style of gameplay whilst also ensuring you don't feel any discomfort.
To top it all off, the price is excellent! It's priced at 3000 yen here, which I imagine is about $30, and it's quite a lengthy experience for the relatively small price tag, it looks great graphically speaking, and overall it feels like one of the few truly polished VR experiences and has that "full game" feel you get from stuff like Chronos, Edge of Nowhere etc. If you're into FPS then you're sure to have a great time, and even if you're not then the immersiveness of the gameplay and fun locomotion mechanics should still make it an enjoyable experience for you.
sorry for speaking german ! but i have to. Ich spiele seit ca. 26 Jahren FPS ... ich schaue beim Spielen mit Maus +Tastatur niemals auf die Tatstatur,würde ich das tun,hätte ich verloren. Warum muss ich mich dann in diesem Spiel "beamen" .... lasst mir wenigstens die Wahl ob ich mich beamen will oder FPS-like mit Maus und Tastatur fortbewege und dabei via der Oculus "free look" habe .... so wie in den Battlefield Demos auf Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbu8OUq1CUE .Ich brauch kein laufband dazu !!!
