Dead and Burried Bugs and Annoyances

Anonymous

There's a couple of annoyances in the Dead and Buried game. Since the game was made by Oculus Studios, I was wondering if there is a better place than this to leave feedback?

1-The door opening mechanism in Robbery is useless and adds nothing to the game. It's where I experience the most bugs with Touch and it just creates a frustrating experience. I would suggest removing this aspect of the game.
2-Cover is often right outside of my Guardian boundary! This is pretty obvious, make sure players can get cover inside their Guardian boundaries. Dying a bunch because of bad design like this is a great way to make people not want to play.
3-Feet height is not well detected. Kind of goes back to number 2. When I spawn and there is only a box to cover me and I crouch and my head is still at standing height, I'm going to die really quick because of bad design. Please make sure to place our feet on the ground, especially if the cover is super low on the ground.

I'm not sure where the correct place to leave feedback is...so I'm leaving it here!

1. If I invite my friend to play, we cannot control which team we end up on or if we are grouped together. I have to cycle the teams with the "Teams" button, but I've found sometimes it refuses to shuffle the teams to where I can play with my friend. We should be able to choose Good/Bad side slot and stick with it.

2. If I do manage to cycle teams to where I can play with my friend, once the round is over the teams will shuffle back to their original setup, making me reshuffle every time. This is silly.

3. If someone leaves a match, currently the matchmaking does not work in finding a new player. We always have to completely exit the game and reform. Really annoying.

4. I can't quite figure out how spawn invulnerability works. It seems when someone spawns, I hear a "ding ding" when I shoot them that implies they are taking no damage, yet sometimes when I spawn I can be killed instantly (one time in particular I remember being killed in the Train shootout map before the train even put up its walls). Do you lose invulnerability when you shoot? It seems I can be killed by a fresh spawn without my bullets affecting them.

And let's not forget my biggest concern: RELOADING! >_<'
Majority of the time I have no issues and everything is simply amazing, however, a handful of people have experienced when reloading a gun it either just will not let you do it or it does reload, you can see the fresh bullets inside, but then cannot shoot a single round, even if you spend the rest of the game just reloading. It makes the game downright unplayable for obvious reasons so definitely an issue and needs to be addressed. The only solution that seems to work so far, is when this problem does occur you have to completely close out of Dead and Buried before it goes back to normal. Occasionally just starting a new game will work, but sadly, with this particular issue, you have to leave D&B altogether and then come back, hoping no one else snags your place.

Hi Tbone, I believe number four is a bit iffy and also related to latency. However you may be right that once you fire you become vulnerable again.

I tend to not shoot people when they respawn and give them a moment to get situated.

What the game should allow you to do, is move around once spawned (within a pre set skybox type area) and then hit a function to set your play area in game with barbed wire. Therefore if you find the game hasn't given you enough space by default yet you have physical space to move, you can shuffle over, set the play space and carry on.

OR something similar to that.

I've gotten into that same habit, but that seems to give them a window to shoot me in the face with impunity. As a result, I've found myself ducking and hiding from someone freshly spawned in order to avoid being killed before they're free to be shot at. There should be a clear way to both know when you become vulnerable and when someone else becomes vulnerable.

This is actually a bug that's already being fixed. Right now the game resets your "center" position every time you spawn. So let's say in your initial spawn you dive to the left behind a box and die. You stand up and wait to respawn. When you respawn, you spawn in the "center" of the new area, but if you remember, you ducked to the left previously, so now you are on the left side of your tracking box but in the center of your spawn spot. As a result, if there's something to your left you want to use as cover, it's now outside of your area since you are off-center. Once you establish "center" in your tracking area, the game should take that into account the entire time, but it currently doesn't.

As for the height mismatch, if you "recenter" by holding down the left stick or through the Oculus interface, it also resets your height. This might also happen while loading into certain menus/areas (it doesn't happen when respawning). The simple fix is don't sit down at any point. If you do find your height is bugged, hold down the left stick to fix it.

Thanks for the helpful reply TBones. Glad someone is working on that bug.

I forgot to say it's a really cool game btw. I can't wait to play more 😄

Also have some points:

-I've had some encounters with people hosting a game while inactive, which results in griefing players that try to join. Sometimes this just blocks you from playing that gamemode because everytime you will end up joining this game. Had this 2 times already in my 5 days of playing.

-The barb wire guardian system alternative should also react when a touch controller gets close to it. Now only the headset triggers it. I really want to use the barb wire because I find the standard oculus guardian graphics to be too intrusive!

-Rifle seems to be a bit overpowered. It's mainly that the firing rate is insane and that it's always a kill, wherever you hit someone.

-There seem to be a few bugs here and there. Once I had a blue screen and had to redo the entire rift setup. I think I also once quit searching for a game at the exact moment when I found one, and a character spawned right in the main menu area, freaked me out a bit! I had joined the game whilst stuck in the main menu screen.

I really really love this game, I hope there will be frequent updates!

The game is a blast, but I've put off playing it for the time being (preferring to instead play Superhot VR and The Unspoken) due entirely to cable management issues that come from ducking for cover behind unreasonably small objects.  I managed to step on my tether and pull the HDMI cable out of my Rift once when standing up after ducking for cover, then figured Dead and Buried to be something I could wait on playing again until that problem is fixed.  It'll only take a few broken Rifts before they get to it, I'm sure... and I'd rather mine not among that number.

The board that caused the cable pulling was the Train Station board, if it helps.

Spawning somewhere with no cover is a big annoyance. Instant death. And I still can't figure out how to throw the dynamite accurately.

It would be great if they added a single player game to it. Like have a game where you're on a horse and can control the horse while shooting guys.
