Dirt Rally - Separated communities Oculus Home / Steam?

I bought Dirt Rally on Oculus Home 2 weeks ago and am enjoying it immensely so far.
But I noticed there are hardly any players in online events, never more than 5. Then I tried to join some Leagues.
There were Leagues with thousands of players on the Dirtgame website but they would never show up ingame after I joined.
Then I noticed I could choose platforms (XBOX, PS4, Steam, Oculus) in the upper right corner and my platform was set to "Steam". When I changed to "Oculus" I could suddenly only see 4 leagues with a maximum of 2 players.

So is Dirt Rally keeping Oculus players separate from other PC players? Why?
I seem to have basically no access to almost all mulitplayer content now because the Oculus platform is basically empty!

Yes, Oculus has it's own services for friends, multiplayer, etc. so online games aren't typically playable cross-platform. Sorry.

That's kind of the problem when developers use steam's multiplayer match making rather then rolling their own. Elite Dangerous works across both though. I'd bug the developers about it, it's their fault... even if many people try to blame oculus for it.

So I thought but Cyber's post sounds like this is due to Oculus.

I feel cheated. The game is advertised on Codemaster's pages for it's vibrant online community and when I bought it on OH there was no mention at all that I'll be locked in a tiny extra community where nobody plays. Still I had to pay the full price!
How could I have known that when I made the purchase decision? I also play Elite which is also advertised on OH and this does not lock you into the Oculus community!
I wonder why I didn't even see this issue being menioned in the forums here.

There should be a clear indication on the game's pages on the Oculus store whether a game with mulitplayer features only allows to play with other OH customers or can be played with everybody on PC.

Is there at least an option to get a Steam key for Dirt Rally or do I have to pay the full price again then? The single player experience is fine so far but in the long run only the mulitplayer part will keep me interested.
