Does the Solus Project work properly on CV1 (steam version)?

I was thinking of picking this up but I'm not sure it works properly on the CV1, can anyone confirm that it works fine?

Yes, it works with the CV1. I haven't seen any real issues with it, aside from the fact that even when you start the game in 'other vr mode' for Oculus, Steam still fires up Steam VR (although for me, Steam VR fails to start up properly like this, but the game itself still loads fine).

Ok cool, btw you can just go into steam vr settings and unclick the field that autostarts it when you launch games. It stops launching after that.

Ah ok, I didn't realize that. Good to know. Thanks!

It works very well.  It offers many different performance tweeks to get the frame rate where you want it to be.  Very cool game.

@Gwiz84 I can verify that The Solus Project does indeed work with the CV1, and it is pretty amazing as well. Recommended.

Took a chance on some good reviews on Steam and just  bought it. Will let you know how I get on 🙂

Ya it works fine. I wish the PDA would go away though, and have the (x) button bring it up. As it is the PDA is always there and (x) brings it up higher. Also, I don't like being a disembodied floating head with a magical ability to pick up things with telekinesis.

Yea one of the first few games I grabbed. It's good, though can take a little while to get used to the movement. By default you move left or right in 90 degree (or similar) chunks, to avoid motion sickness, though I found that very unnatural and super disorienting and lost my bearings all the time. Luckily you can turn this off for more normal turning, but that can cause a little nausier at times. I find moving my hend as I also turn on the thumb stick helps. The inventory is total rubbish  (my opinion), you just swap what you are holding through a cycle. Unfortunately I little later on you go underground and it gets darker and darker and more complicated and I kinda lost interest.  However, I mean to go back and push through as I do think it has potential to be an amazing adventure/experience.  I just get distracted with other VR stuff. Finally it has been a while since I played and the game has had loads of updates, so my info could be out dated now.  Overall, if it sounds interesting to you, you will probably like it.

Yes I agree with your comments @daddoofly78 and @baz_uk.

So at first I thought I had made a mistake buying it as the controls were pretty screwy.

Takes a little getting used to and I find I have to take my fingers off the A and D keys as it is a habit to press them. For movement I just look in the direction I want to go. For bigger turns I use the mouse to help guide it round.

If I use the snap turning, I find it annoying and the smooth turning makes me feel a bit of discomfort.

I do not think this is the games fault as such as FP movement and VR is still in its infancy but it does give you plenty of options for control (including gamepad)

A body would be really nice and to be able to get rid of the PDA until needed would also be good.

After a second attempt I started to get used to the controls and then I started to enjoy it.

The first big storm sent me hiding in a cave and the weather is amazing in VR. Standing at the caves entrance staring up at a huge tornado ripping its way across the beach was a wow moment.

This is the type of game I bought VR for. Feeling that you are there. It is early days yet with this VR integration but so far not bad.
