Really sad that everything decent seems to be out for the Vive...is the oculus getting anything decent soon?? Was about to get Doom VFR but, yeah vive only. Along with FO4 - another vive only title ,both games I was hoping to play.

Doom VFR is not a decent title - it has soo many bugs and problems right now.

The only one with decent titles is the Oculus - so I am a bit confused on what you mean? Even then - you can play most titles on the Oculus over the Vive and STEAM just force Doom VFR to be compatible for the Oculus if you really want to play it.

FOV4 will also be a shit title as it'll just be a add on for VR - than they really making it a ground up VR title. So again - I think you have things mess up here xD But it too will be a playable on the Oculus because STEAM will force them to make it playable between all headsets.

Latest word I thought from Bethesda implied it's not on Oculus because they didn't have 'the time', which would translate as eventually it's coming to Oculus, I assume along with every other Bethesda VR title coming. Not sure I buy the excuse since it was in response to Rift users pitching a fit, but still good news. Wouldn't say 'everything decent' is on the Vive though because of one game so far. If you are thinking of others please share. I doubt it's the 1000's of shovelware on Steam you're referring to.

Doom works on the rift, it was fixed yesterday.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a single game that runs on the Vive that also doesn't run on the Rift. Doom VFR didn't for a whole 3 hours after release, but that's been fixed. As for decent games, check steam. The Oculus store has RoboRecall and a few games that eventually made it over from steam but not much else worth bothering with. The general consensus is you can ignore the Vive and Oculus tags on steam, they are basically interchangeable.

You know, Vive users are using "rift emulators" to buy the best available VR games, because ~all of them are Oculus Store timed exclusives.

And not only the CV1 is ~200$ cheaper then the Vive, but top VR titles like "Dead & Buried" and "Robo Recall" that those Vive owners are buying come free with the CV1.

In fact I can't even name you a single AAA VR game that Steam sells and the Oculus Store doesn't...

It was meant to be Doom VFR and Fallout VR, but both come from Zenimax, and if Zenimax can't get basic VR mechanics right on Doom VRF (such as holding a gun), how can you expect them to get something like Fallout VR right ?

Steam has the highest quantity, Oculus Store has highest quality, and the real issue is that it's still too soon for VR to have a high quantity of high quality content.

Its quite sad to see that some people label Doom VFR  as "decent" game...

Could not agree more.

Really sad that everything decent seems to be out for the Vive

It's mildly sad when people don't know what "decent" entails.

I'll requote one of my favorite first-hand reviews of the Doom VFR from a Facebook user:

Doom VFR is not a good game. I don't recommend it.
Luckily, I have a Vive and an Oculus Rift.
After failing to launch on the Oculus Rift, I had to dust off the ol' Vive.

After setting everything up and getting settled into the game (on the
Vive), I realized quickly how bad the game is, and the assorted reasons
why I prefer the Oculus Rift over the Vive.

The game uses the
Vive controllers, of course. I hate these wands, I tell ya. I've gone
through several - I have three partially broken controllers in my
drawer. The problem is the touchpad - it is supposed to act like an
omni-button, where you can click anywhere on the circle and it will act
like a separate button, or a rotary selector. Well, this "button" tends
to break, on the inside - so that it doesn't register in certain
directions. I had to figure out which of my controllers worked properly
before I could begin.

So - the graphics are poor, severely lowered. I'm sure this can run on psvr, no problem. This is a bad thing lol.

You can turn the graphics up, but things still look a bit flat.

Doom VFR is teleport only. There is no full locomotion option.

The game is designed around the teleport, so that time slows down when
you activate it. You are also able to teleport into monsters to kill
them once they are staggered.

This is a bad implementation
of teleportation - there is no cooldown, or distance limit. You can just
spam the thing. The game lets you teleport on top of tables - it's
clunky and feels "wrong" in this game.

You are also able to tap on the touchpad in the four directions to dash
a little bit (a stick would be much better than a touchpad for this).

The story so far, is quite lame. The initial level or two or three -
very lame indeed. A terrible tutorial, simply teaching you how to
teleport, dash around, upgrade your weapons and your chassis, and then
fight a few monsters.

No, you are not the Doom guy, not even
close. It's like you are just walking around after the Doom guy left the
building, talking to yourself in a calm manner about the situation.

There is narration - in the form of puzzle/problem solving.

You're given a few 'lame' puzzles - like "find the fire extinguisher to put out the fire", or "crack the password".

In one room you can see a bunch of holograms, showing different monsters - I'm thinking "this is just a tech demo".

The first level is just one big circle. So very boring. A few monsters
strewn about. You just teleport around - kill a few monsters and then
get told what to do, in the form of narration.

Guess I gotta find that yellow key card, now where could it be?
Hmm, maybe that service drone could help me get it.

Maybe if I walked up and pressed a random button, it will go into the
next room, pick up the key and bring it to me without any commands
provided. Hey, whaddya know, it worked. On to the next task.

Lots
of bugs as well. The game does not feel finished. Poor animations
(besides the existing animations belonging to the monsters that were
already in the original game). Sometimes my hand will spawn backwards.
One time, I was locked in a room and had to restart a checkpoint. You
can only select things with your right hand and you have to be right
next to the thing to select it - if you have a gun in your hand, it will
disappear and in it's place will spawn a hand with a crooked finger
pointing all rigidly, with a fixed green laser pointer at the end.
Sometimes the green laser from my finger will just hover in the air
after I walk away. Sometimes, this laser pointer line will be crooked.
Many tiny flaws and imperfections.

I mean, the game might be cool if you have never experienced VR before. It's trying to impress you with such simple things.

Oh and no arcade mode, cooperative, or multiplayer - just one mode - Campaign.
Super lame.

They unlocked it. You can play it on the Rift.

There are still a lot of annoying bugs and issues. You might want to wait for patch. And if Doom Vfr is unlocked, that suggests that FO4 will be too.

So there's a new official patch out that adds official support for Windows Mixed Reality but not Rift.

Has somebody tested if it works with Rift? The patch also adds smooth locomotion, so I'm wondering if the game might be worthwhile now, but I don't know if it will even start on Rift.
