Drift VFX , Dark Sand Coast EnvironmentDemo

Hiya

We've recently made an asset package on the Unity store, but thought it would make a nice VR demo.

This is not a game, this is made with the intent to push higher quality environment assets to Virtual Reality, for presentation or entertainment.

You may or may not find it interesting.

The Download and information page is here:
http://www.driftvfx.com/2015/03/29/dark ... sset-pack/

The Oculus demo link is about halfway down.

Note it was made on a Windows7 980GTX spec machine, so anything less will suffer FPS.
But the goal was to look good 😉

Here isa quick video to give you an idea of what I mean:

Feedback welcome

I hope you enjoy.

Hiya

Just wondered if any one tried this yet. Ive added the direct link below just in case visiting the page was a hinderance.
Would welcome feedback, inparticular on the rock/ground assets.

I tried it a couple of times, and I think it looks great. I'm just a lowly gamer, so I don't really have anything intelligent to say about it, I'm afraid - but if a VR game was being developed with this level of graphics, I would definitely be interested.

I did have a lot of judder with my 780ti, though - and of course that messes up the solid feeling of the rocks and the world in general - but if I stood still and looked (or kept to a few places where I was able to reach 75 fps), the graphics was clear and varied, and looked fairly natural.

I would certainly think that it could be useful in a game - although I expect that since it's already very taxing on the hardware, adding any additional assets like NPC's would certainly make my PC call in sick 🙂 - but I guess there are ways to optimize it.

In any case, it's definitely pretty!

Looked good.
Not feeling of sickness, no colour fringing and colours + lighting looked very natural.
Water felt a little unrealistic though i suspect thats limited by unity.
Good job overall.
