Echo VR shutdown

To whoever it may concern,

I am deeply saddened by the news that EchoVR will be closing its doors on 1st August 2023. The Echo community is huge, established and it will be a great loss to many of us should the game disappear entirely. This is why I write to you today, to show that there is still demand for the game and I hope that you will reconsider your approach to close down the servers for Echo VR on the due date.

We do not need much, or for the game to continue to be developed, simply the request to keep the servers open so that we can continue to enjoy and play this game with the friends we have made and the teams we have formed over the years since the game was released.

If it is a matter of cost, I am willing to offer, along with many others, monetary contribution to upkeep the servers. A small subscription fee each month should be enough to keep your servers open and I hope you will read and consider this proposal.

The community is huge, still growing, and it would be a shame to cut its potential short. There are community members holding tournaments, finding funding for LAN events and all this hard work will be lost the moment you shut down the servers for this game. Some of us play it daily, for exercise, with friends and for mental health and all this will also be lost.

There is no good reason to cut the life of the game short just because you are putting resources into another game. I am not asking much of you, simply to honour the community that has dedicated so much of their time, energy and sweat into what I believe to be one of the best e-sports in the VR world today.
I hope this message finds the relevant people with power to overturn the decision in August.

I would like to stress the importance of Echo VR to our community and I sincerely hope that you / Meta, reconsiders the decision to shut down the servers on the 1st August 2023.

Dear Echo VR community ,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to talk about the impending shutdown of Echo VR, a virtual reality game that has brought so much joy and friendship to so many of us. The game will be shut down on August 1st, 2023, and it marks the end of an era for those of us who have found a community in the virtual world.

Echo VR has been a game-changer for many of us, providing a platform for us to connect with others from all over the world and to experience new and exciting things together. It's been a place where we've forged lifelong friendships and memories that we'll never forget. It's more than just a game - it's been a part of our lives.

It's disappointing that the company behind Echo VR, META, has decided not to support the game any longer. This news has left many of us feeling disheartened and frustrated, but we must remember that the memories and friendships we've made in Echo VR will always be a part of us.

In conclusion, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Echo VR for the wonderful experiences it has brought into our lives. To my friends in the virtual world, let us cherish the time we have left and make the most of it. Together, we'll always have a part of Echo VR in our hearts.

Sincerely,

An addicted Echo VR player YoRomeo

Echo vr is one of the best examples of the metaverse and where it can go!

Exactly, projects like virtex really show where vr as an esport could go and they're just pulling the plug

**bleep** thats a good way of saying it, thats exactly how it feels.

Meta/RAD have decided that you can no longer buy Echo Combat as of 31st of Jan. However you can still play it until the 1st of Aug.

With the Sad News that RAD/Meta are no longer supporting Echo VR as of the 1st of Aug.. and therefore shutting down the server. It has come to a GREAT disappointment that new people cannot play or buy Echo Combat.

Please can we make Echo Combat free to play until 1st of Aug to let the rest of the ENTIRE Echo VR Community play it on PCVR til the servers are shut down. As you are basically killing off Echo Combat before the server shutdown as new people cannot play it.

I've purchased two Rift Ss, Two Quest 2s for myself and a Quest 2 for a friend.  Echo VR is literally the only reason I have continued to purchase Meta products, and the only reason I would continue to purchase Meta products.  It's a community.  It's an inter-mural sport.  Leagues have organized themselves for years.  Thousands of league matches occur every single week.  Public matches are running at all hours with little to no wait time.  If Echo is gone, the last vestiges of my support for Meta are gone.

I bought a quest 2 back just after the covid shut down. While I found many games to be enjoyable, nothing really had the replay value like Echo VR did. It not only caught my attention, but it kept me coming back for years, at times spending 8 hours a day only playing Echo. This community is how I have made a majority of my friends, and without Echo VR I wouldn't be who I am today. Echo changed my life for the better, and I even decided to go into VR game development as a career because of it. It's truly saddening to me that after August I won't be able to casually hop on Echo to play with my closest friends. At this point, Echo is the only game worth playing to me, so if Echo truely get's shut down, my quest will become a dust collector from that point on. I hope Meta will see how much this game means to so many people and the community that supports it. As one of the biggest VR esports out there, it makes no sense to me that it's not worth Meta's time to keep it running and keep these thousands of people coming back to their game. Much love to Ready At Dawn for creating this amazing game and keeping it going as long as they did. Sometimes it's hard for big companies like Meta to realize how amazing and incredible this game that RAD created truly is.

Agreed, make Combat free for the coming months or better, don't shut the game down!

I don't know if its the same for everyone but I don't play VR games much, echo VR is  a sport to me. This is a platform where people can compete and build teams and it has nothing to do with the architecture of the video game it's because it recreates a sport we could play in real life if we were in zero gravity. So it's like cancelling football or cancelling baseball this is a game or activity I had planned to play long term. This isn't a video game anymore, it shouldn't be cancelled!

(paraphrased someone's comment into this as this is a big thing I  agree on)
