Echo VR shutdown

To whoever it may concern,

I am deeply saddened by the news that EchoVR will be closing its doors on 1st August 2023. The Echo community is huge, established and it will be a great loss to many of us should the game disappear entirely. This is why I write to you today, to show that there is still demand for the game and I hope that you will reconsider your approach to close down the servers for Echo VR on the due date.

We do not need much, or for the game to continue to be developed, simply the request to keep the servers open so that we can continue to enjoy and play this game with the friends we have made and the teams we have formed over the years since the game was released.

If it is a matter of cost, I am willing to offer, along with many others, monetary contribution to upkeep the servers. A small subscription fee each month should be enough to keep your servers open and I hope you will read and consider this proposal.

The community is huge, still growing, and it would be a shame to cut its potential short. There are community members holding tournaments, finding funding for LAN events and all this hard work will be lost the moment you shut down the servers for this game. Some of us play it daily, for exercise, with friends and for mental health and all this will also be lost.

There is no good reason to cut the life of the game short just because you are putting resources into another game. I am not asking much of you, simply to honour the community that has dedicated so much of their time, energy and sweat into what I believe to be one of the best e-sports in the VR world today.
I hope this message finds the relevant people with power to overturn the decision in August.

I would like to stress the importance of Echo VR to our community and I sincerely hope that you / Meta, reconsiders the decision to shut down the servers on the 1st August 2023.

I was sad when I heard what happened. Since I played in so many communities like VRML, VRGL, LOVR, privates, and pubs with friends for over 2 years. It is that type of game where you play it once and it blows you away, I know I fell to love it. It really is that type of game you play when you want to have fun with people, relax, or play competitively. It has so many aspects that I adore and whatever yalls decision is I hope you consider these forums and the amount of peoples lives that have changed just because of this game; Echo VR.

I for one, and I believe thousands more would more than happily pay for this game

I have always said it was odd it wasn't monetized, even before the echo pass when it was the og chassis...

People cried out for customisation and if it was added correctly as small Micros, I would have bought almost all skins.

The echo pass failed as I bought the first and never had to buy another... Free points means no incentive..

A paid game would help so much for costs and running of servers . So many people have invested so much time and effort into not just their abilities in game but software, tournaments, and sponsors..

Echo is such a unique game! There is nothing that comes close...

it just seems like a bad financial decision- they take this game away and like- half the Oculus community will stop playing on The Oculus VR headsets at all. I know for a fact that I will find very little interesting on my quest once echo is gone. As it is, Echo keeps players interested in the headset long enough to see and buy other games which means more money for Meta. It just doesn't make sense to me.

If it is a money issue that is causing the servers to be ignored as many suspect it is, an interesting idea has been proposed. Advertisements. Not like your annoying mobile ads, but like a sports arena sponsorship. Maybe banners on the walls that promote other VR games or something. I'm sure other companies will pay to have their games or other products advertised in a game with such an involved community.

I love this game, and the people I find in it. My friends and I have made so many jokes that, even now, are worth laughing over, and none of it would be possible without Echo. Many people see Echo as just a video game, but it truly has been life changing in positive ways to many. This can't just be taken away. #fightforecho

Hello,

I am 54 years old and have now purchased 6 Quests including 2 Pros. I bought all of these primarily to play Echo competitively. I never thought I’d ever have anywhere close to this kind of competitive sporting experience again in my life, but these last two years have been the pinnacle for me. This is such an amazing sport. Please keep it going.

I was sadened to learn about the coming final shuttdown of Echo VR. It is not just a game for me, as it is a way to be me And finally bond and make friendship. This game has so much more behind than the matchmaking and the arena, the friends behind and the memories on this game are just impossible to have on any other game…

I started playing Echo nearly a year ago when I first bought my Quest 2, and nearly a year later it is still the main game I play, I am part of a massive community with over 1000 members all of whom came together in their love of Echo.

We are like family, we have spread out to other games, but our love for Echo is 1st, if it needs to make more money, charge us for it please, but please don't take away our home.

I have been playing echo combat for about a year now and i have made so many new friends through this awesome game and its amazing community. it would be such a shame to see all of it just fade away. Please keep Echo alive and for the very least make combat free for everyone on PCVR for these last few months
