Echo VR shutdown

To whoever it may concern,

I am deeply saddened by the news that EchoVR will be closing its doors on 1st August 2023. The Echo community is huge, established and it will be a great loss to many of us should the game disappear entirely. This is why I write to you today, to show that there is still demand for the game and I hope that you will reconsider your approach to close down the servers for Echo VR on the due date.

We do not need much, or for the game to continue to be developed, simply the request to keep the servers open so that we can continue to enjoy and play this game with the friends we have made and the teams we have formed over the years since the game was released.

If it is a matter of cost, I am willing to offer, along with many others, monetary contribution to upkeep the servers. A small subscription fee each month should be enough to keep your servers open and I hope you will read and consider this proposal.

The community is huge, still growing, and it would be a shame to cut its potential short. There are community members holding tournaments, finding funding for LAN events and all this hard work will be lost the moment you shut down the servers for this game. Some of us play it daily, for exercise, with friends and for mental health and all this will also be lost.

There is no good reason to cut the life of the game short just because you are putting resources into another game. I am not asking much of you, simply to honour the community that has dedicated so much of their time, energy and sweat into what I believe to be one of the best e-sports in the VR world today.
I hope this message finds the relevant people with power to overturn the decision in August.

I would like to stress the importance of Echo VR to our community and I sincerely hope that you / Meta, reconsiders the decision to shut down the servers on the 1st August 2023.

The reasons why I think that this game shouldn't be shut down is because many people have spent lots of money on the game and now they are just going to shut it down without giving us our money back. The second reason is that many people play the game because it takes their mind off of things and it can be great once you find the right group. I found this game when I got my headset and have been playing it consecutively ever since then and it's one of the biggest things that brings me joy and helps me overcome my social anxiety.

The announcement of the shut down of echo vr is a tragic one. The community is not only extremely active, but actively growing as well. Our competitive scene and even our professional scene grows by every season. Echo vr has been at the forefront of oculus since the beginning and is a staple for vr users. Would you shut down beatsaber? I’ve made lifelong friends in echo, I’ve gained real life applicable skills in echo, i became an adult in echo. Echo is a home for me and so many others, echo is the game we look forward to playing at events all together. Please don’t shut us down.

Echo is the greatest community that I have ever known. It exemplifies what the metaverse stands for, bringing people together around a common love. Losing it LITERALLY means losing 100s of friends to me. I have a weak stomach but their novel zero-g movement system was the first to give me true freedom, and give me the ability to be close to others in a VR world. I frankenstein old CV1s together, buy new cables, keep a dedicated pc and a spare room in my house JUST FOR ECHO... please give them what they need to keep the game going!

Why are they shutting echo down though? They really have gave us a valid reason for it. What they're just working on they're next game so they need more People to help so they're gonna shut down the selling point for the quest 2?

I don't buy it, there's a higher up reason for this I guarantee.

I played this game before seasons were even introduced and it's been my played app on Oculus since purchase.

If anyone reads this please go sign the petition to at least try to keep the game up:

This game has become so much more than a game, it's been a job, a passion, a hobby for thousands of people including me. This game doesn't deserve this treatment. It's one of the biggest VR games of all time while being at the forefront pushing the boundaries of VR. I laughed, cried and bled over this game, I have met one of my closest friends of all time playing it. This game is a completely unique gem that we must protect. This is a terrible business decision for all companies involved, it is a PR disaster. I do hope the mistake will be reversed.

I have been Playing Echo for about 3 or 4 seasons now, and I justed wanted to tell you the great experiences I've had playing this game. This game has brought new people into my life that I'm glad to call my friends, without Echo I wouldn't have met the people I have to help me get through all the tough times I have been through. This game has helped me escape many of my struggles throughout my life. It has also given me the opportunity to give back to the community and help other people with their struggles, I just hope that maybe you can keep Echo up and running, because what may seem to you a game that you deem unpopular, actually has a rapid growing community, and I hope that you can take the time to review what everyone is saying about this game, I hope you keep it running.

             Sincerely, Ca.Reap3r_420

I was skeptical of VR originally, I had bought a valve index when it came out thinking that I wanted to try high end VR. It didn't work out, none of the games or experiences were compelling. Then, a friend suggested Echo and I tried it out on their Quest 2. The next thing I did was sell my Index, buy a Quest 2, and install Echo. I bought other games to try them out, but the only thing that ever stuck for me was Echo. I've been playing Echo daily for a year now, it's my favorite game. I'd be willing to pay a monthly subscription for it, no problem.

But you're shutting it down.

I don't think I'll be buying whatever RAD builds next, Meta has burnt my favorite bridge. The only reason I was looking forward to the Quest 3 (and might have bought a Quest Pro if the prices came down) was to play Echo. Now? There's no reason, and I might as well buy in to one of your competitors since they at least have a track record of attempting to build positive relations with their customers.

As soon as Echo shuts down, I'll be shelving my Quest for good.

Personally, I used to play FPS games where there was just running and moving around using the joystick. But ever since Echo VR came out, I've been playing since its release. It has a unique playstyle that no other game has. No other game has boosters, zero gravity and flipping and doing tricks all in 1. The game has a unique movement system and has a unique play type. The closest game to Echo VR is Nock, and that doesn't really have anything close to what Echo VR has. So many people have been enjoying the game and loving it, that people play for money, it's one of the biggest E Sports games, and people even hold tournaments in real life for the game. So many people enjoy the game, and all we ask is for Ready At Dawn and Meta to please keep it up and running. Still being able to play the game that I have been playing for 5 years is better than not having any updates to it unless needed. All that the Echo VR community asks is for you to understand how much we love and enjoy the game and that we would like for it to be accessible to play online. There are so many people signing petitions, creating servers on apps like Discord, and so much more trying to save Echo VR. It's one of the biggest games there is, and there is no other game like it.
