Echo VR shutdown

To whoever it may concern, 

I am deeply saddened by the news that EchoVR will be closing its doors on 1st August 2023. The Echo community is huge, established and it will be a great loss to many of us should the game disappear entirely. This is why I write to you today, to show that there is still demand for the game and I hope that you will reconsider your approach to close down the servers for Echo VR on the due date. 

We do not need much, or for the game to continue to be developed, simply the request to keep the servers open so that we can continue to enjoy and play this game with the friends we have made and the teams we have formed over the years since the game was released. 

If it is a matter of cost, I am willing to offer, along with many others, monetary contribution to upkeep the servers. A small subscription fee each month should be enough to keep your servers open and I hope you will read and consider this proposal.

The community is huge, still growing, and it would be a shame to cut its potential short. There are community members holding tournaments, finding funding for LAN events and all this hard work will be lost the moment you shut down the servers for this game. Some of us play it daily, for exercise, with friends and for mental health and all this will also be lost. 

There is no good reason to cut the life of the game short just because you are putting resources into another game. I am not asking much of you, simply to honour the community that has dedicated so much of their time, energy and sweat into what I believe to be one of the best e-sports in the VR world today. 

I hope this message finds the relevant people with power to overturn the decision in August.

I would like to stress the importance of Echo VR to our community and I sincerely hope that you / Meta, reconsiders the decision to shut down the servers on the 1st August 2023.

Shutting down Echo VR is one of the most horrible decision and i mean that as respectfully as possible. So many people play this game constantly because they enjoy it. I've seen people's families start because of this game, people have come together to support others when they are in need. Echo bring people together as a game should. Shutting it down would almost completely ruin that considering there are no other games like it. I understand there are problems they must deal with internally such as funding maybe, but making the decision to just shut it down isn't right. Please keep the game running for our sake, it brings thousands of people joy and allows others who may have trouble socially in real life, to have a chance at meeting people and making friends virtually.

Ever since EchoVR came out on quest in may 2020 I've been in love with it (I probably have over a thousand hours). I've met so many friends like ghostduck, Anubis, TheLobster, Thiccquinox, aaron or now known as Snyper-, VRFrontier, BomberBlast, JakeFox, Nato_o, AJLBlackGhoul, Id_Hikaru, Virtual Reality Check, Splash-, Bluespartan, Gamified, Day_one, Penguinicy, Nah0 now known as KANOE, an so many more. I remember my first day playing, I loaded into the lobby after the tutorial with athena and just there in the staging area my mind was blown, then i hopped into a Ai match, had a close game with the bots then went back to the lobby and thats where I found Thiccquinox, LoneWolf, and Michael. We played pubs for hours until we all got off. Thicc then introduced me to Snyper- and Lobster, and right there in that moment we decided to make a VRML team called REBOUND, of course I rarely see them or talk to them now, but I would love to "Reconnect" (get it cause thats what team im on now XD) with them before the game comes to an end. Now I really would love for EchoVR to stay up so i can keep playing this game that I love so much. That is my first experience with EchoVR and there are so many to explain.

Echo VR isn’t just a game to most people. It’s a second home where one can escape from reality, whether it may be avoiding homework or avoiding annoying cousins. I’ve played this game for a little over a year, and I’ve met the brightest, while some not so much, people. Made so many memories and friends that I will cherish. Imagine how devastating this could be for people who’ve dedicated their lives to this game, those who’ve played since beta.

I, along with many others, have dreams to become professional players. To one day take the spot of the top teams to compete in the leagues of Echo. Shutting this game down would be equivalent to destroying a whole community. Echo is one of the biggest Esports games on VR and the most popular. Bringing down all servers would be a huge mistake. 

Please consider allowing servers to stay up. We don’t need any updates or any patches. Ask and most of us here are willing to pay for this game, to provide financially, that’s how much Echo means to all of us.

Dear Meta,

I hope you guys are actually reading all these passionate posts from other fellow members of the Echo Vr community as you press on with destroying a community.  Something I would like to point out that is almost the most infuriating, in ThrillSeekers new video on the subject, a short clip was played of Meta talking about live service games.  A quote that is heartbreaking to hear, “We’re focused on this a lot right now, making sure games can build out active communities”.  Please re-read this quote to yourself as you think about the destruction of the community, sad, pathetic, painful, LIES.
