Elite Dangerous controls. Touch, gamepad or HOTAS?

I'm interested in seeing what everyone else out there is currently using. I just started playing Elite Dangerous, and opted to play using the Touch controllers instead of my Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X. It was a little rough at first, but I actually kind of like it now although the flight controls are going to take me some time to master.

What's the general consensus here? Does anyone else use the touch controls or are most of you using HOTAS-style stick and throttles, or even XB1 gamepads? Does using any one over the other put you at a disadvantage in regard to either general gameplay or PVP interaction?

I use hotas for ship and pad for srv.
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

HOTAS, definitely HOTAS. First because it gives best control over all 3 axes, throttle and thrusters, but also because a HOTAS usually has a large number of hats and buttons that are easy to find without looking (as opposed to buttons on a keyboard). And you could never have too many buttons for Elite.

I got a cheap £30 quid Thrustmaster HOTAS, does the job perfectly, though its nothing much to look at.

Probably not many will agree with me, but I'm a mouse and keyboard kind of player.

This is mostly due to the fact that I have put around a thousand hours into ED before getting a rift, and any attempt at changing that now leads to days of frustration before reverting back to m+k. I just don't feel as responsive or accurate with anything but my familiar mouse aiming and keybinds that my fingers find extremely comfortably.

HOTAS for sure. I use the X52 Pro. Good stick but it will break with heavy use. I have had to replace wires on 2 occasions in 1 year lol
