Since people in the Star Citizen topic "know Star Citizen" I thought I'd add my knowledge from the Elite Dangerous side. For quickness I'll call them SC and ED. SC is still a sandbox from a overwhelming world that will keep people hyped for too long. ED is a simple game with future expansions to further adapt new gaming experiences and increase the complexity. SC leaves you in the dark hoping, ED leaves it all on the table and keeps adding. I like the fact I can grind away with the Oculus on doing trade missions and dog fights*RIGHT NOW*. The visuals on the control panels are poor yet the new resolution on the retail oculus(@ 2k res) as stated already will be well enough to increase the visuals enough for full viewing(I have a 2k monitor and ED is amazing). The controls on ED are difficult yet ask a pilotin real life is flying easy? ED controls become second nature for the ones who want to immerse themselves in a game and take the time to learn. There is alot of grinding at the moment in ED but there is about to be alot of additions with the first expansion. Take faction wars into account and by the release of the retail Rift I guaruntee you ED will be the best experience out their(SC hasnt even thought about Oculus it still has its own hurdles to figure out). Don't get me wrong Wing Commander consumed my gaming time as a kid(more than any other game in the 90's), but sometimes you have to see it as it is SC "could" be the future but ED will be the "right now" and when Oculus goes retail it will be the 1st to be showcased drawing a bigger audience with its new planetary landing expansion. Its the best mix of fiction and current astronomy. Albeit if you don't have the patience to grind through fights/trades/mining or don't like the idea of "learning" the control set(which gives you a stronger ability in game to maneuver) then your an enthusiast who plays his/her games on easy mode and that is fine. In the end if you want a quick WOW ED wins. If you want a hard to play complex world with multiple strategies ED wins. Do you want to experience everything from space flight to hover craft flight through the world you just landed on ED wins. I was a SC fanboy and I get it it takes time to make the perfect game. In the end ED wins for now and its better when the controls/gameplay take time to learn its a sense of accomplishment then apply voice commands for less keystrokes with the oculus on and your set. Join an ED clan/group to help guide you through the learning curves in the game. I can't wait for Q1/2016 Oculus retail and ED:Planetary landings. ED is winning over the experience(with instances) while SC wants an open world with so many limitations to overcome. Ill take the instances since the open world concept has been stunted by our networks/bandwidth no matter how well programmed this SC game is. SC can be the future but I'm giving in to the now and thats Elite Dangerous! Just for the record I have the DK2 and even with its current limitations(before the retail version) it is still the best vr experience other than possibly EVE: Valkyrie which will give ED an run for its money come the retail version of Oculus.
I see so many posts all over the internet by people who seem well spoken and intelligent, and even bother to use proper grammar for the most part, but then they are like 'paragraphs? Pppft I'm too damn cool for paragraphs, (or maybe they were never taught the importance of them in English class despite learning every other facet of the language) so here's a massive wall of text you won't bother reading'...
