Facing Issues While Using Meta Quest 3 on My New AI-Powered Laptop

Hey everyone,

I recently got the Meta Quest 3 and was super excited to try it out with my new AI-powered laptop . However, I’ve been running into some issues, and I’m hoping someone here might be able to help.

Here’s what’s happening:

  1. Connection Issues: When I try to connect the Meta Quest 3 to my laptop, it either doesn’t get recognized at all, or the connection drops randomly.

  2. Performance Lag: When I do manage to get it connected, the VR experience seems a bit laggy and doesn’t run as smoothly as I expected, even though my laptop has a powerful GPU and should handle VR easily.

  3. Software Compatibility: Some apps or games don’t seem to launch properly or crash midway. I’ve made sure to update both the Meta Quest software and my laptop’s drivers, but the problem persists.

Has anyone else encountered similar issues, or does anyone have tips on what settings I might need to tweak? I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Hi there @kelvin.242511!

Thank you for reaching out to Meta Quest Support! We understand you're having issues with the connection, performance and apps not launching and crashing, so we'd love to help you sort this and get on with enjoying VR gaming!

First, we would like to fix the connectivy issue, as this could be causing the other problems you've described. Here are some initial troubleshooting steps:

  1. Restart the device
  2. Try another application to check if the connection issue is related to the Link PC VR app only
  3. Try another connection type (ethernet or Wi-Fi)
  4. Try checking the settings of the Antivirus software for options to whitelist or add the Link PC VR app as a trusted program.
    • Adding the Link PC VR app to the antivirus software’s whitelist or trusted list should help resolve slow down or issues accessing content without compromising your system integrity. You can read more about this here.

If your problems persist, please let us know and we will get back to you with further troubleshooting steps.

I'm surprised any of it worked at all, the Quest Link software is only compatible with Nvidia and AMD GPUs, but the laptops you linked to are only running Intel Arc GPUs.

Hi again @kelvin.242511,

We just wanted to check in with an update. Having taken a look at the Lenovo Aura Edition series, we can see that this line of laptops does not offer compatible GPUs, and so they are not able to support Quest Link properly. (Thank you @kojack for bringing this up!)  In order to enjoy your PCVR experience, you will need to connect your headset to a PC which meets the PCVR system requirements

We hope this information helps! Please don't hesitate to reach out again if you have any other questions in future.

Although you haven't mentioned link/airlink specifically, have you tried the steam link app to play steam games or Virtual Desktop which can bypass some of the hardware requirements.
