I have been trying to think of a good demo to build since I got my Oculus Rift, there are so many great options. I needed something light as I have pretty limited ‘spare time’ these days and on top of that while I have dabbled a little bit this would be my first Unity build.
Given the fourth season of the fantastic Game of Thrones is almost upon us the idea just popped into my head, the Eyrie‘s infamous dungeons – the Sky Cells – would be the perfect experience to create, nice and simple.
I gave myself the weekend to complete it in the small bursts of spare time I get. I leaned on Unity’s amazing asset store for the terrain and medieval walls and floors.
First thing I did was jump off the ledge... shame you just fall through the ground!
"It's like Homeworld in first person."Disable Aero and vSync for a completely simulator sickness free experience with 2xHz FPS.
Keep the config utility open for tracking to work.
I've never watched Game of Thrones before, but I gotta say I really enjoyed this demo. It's quite immersive and the view is great from the cell. Plus, you can jump off too if you'd like, but it'd be more satisfying to have a *splat* similar to falling to your death on Half Life 2 or Mirrors edge if possible.
Keep up the great work man!
