Google Earth now has street view!

I don't like a lot of the things Google is doing in the area of censorship, a very bad trend for a company that is supposed to be in the business of providing access to the world's information, but I have to give them credit for Google Earth, a truly awesome use for VR. This to me is the "killer app" ensuring that VR is here to stay. There's something to flying through the air like Superman that can't be beat. Plus it's a great way to learn geography, something that is not taught in most schools.  But the big news is the addition of street view, which is for the most part brilliantly implemented. Navigate to an area in Google Earth and then switch to street view, and it will usually take you to the exactly corresponding place, if it has a street view image for that spot. It even has some street view images for places not accessible by car, such as the canals of Venice or the campus quadrangle where I went to school. Sweet!

Google is run by SJWs who are censoring people for perfectly-legal political views.

Freedom of speech is something provided by the Government, but you cannot impose that upon a Corporation any more than I can walk in to your home (invading your property and privacy) and demand you listen to my perfectly-legal political views.

Anyone who uses Google is doing so by agreeing to their Terms of Service:
https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/terms/?fg=1

If anyone doesn't like the terms, then they are free to use another service. Many people these days don't understand how Rights work.

The government has the right to break Google up, just as it broke up AT&T. Google is starting to censor YouTube, just as they censor their search results.

Back to to the topic, go to the Castle in the Google Earth featured list. There you will find several  360° Views of the exterior of the castle, as well as some  360° views of the nearby town. Very nice!

Might have to set up again and check this shit out.
Is the streetview availability in vr the same as it is in gmaps?
This is my forum signature.
There are many others like it, but this is mine.

I like how everything is a political statement for you lol

Remember, Corporations and Government are 2 different things. What Google is doing isn't "censorship," what they are doing is adhering to laws and regulations that are imposed upon them. Simply put: Google has to "censor" things to avoid getting their arses sued and shut down.

I know this won't change your personal view, but I figure the truth is always worth mentioning when these type of hyperbole statements are made.

I think it depends on the form this 'censorship' takes.  I imagine cybernettr is refering to the demonitising of certain YT channels and not laws.  There is certainly alot of noise on the more right leaning YT channels where Google's demonitising algorithms have hit hard.

I have to say that it does seem like Google's bots tend to be selective on the sites they target and I have seen plenty of videos of YTers trolling the system proving bias!

OBVIOUSLY it completely up to Google what they do, just as much as it is up to us to be able to spot bias and agenda within the media we consume.

I think the implemantation pretty much sucks.
I want to move through streets, not get a single 360 view and then have to back out again to go to the next one. Why not give us the option to jump to the next view from within Streetview like it is in Google Maps?

A limitation with this early version I suspect. I think we'll get the movement in V1.2 of this feature.

I tried it for the first time. It's pretty cool. I visited places I went on vacation. It gives you this interesting perspective on the earth.

I couldn't understand why I couldn't move through the streets in Street View. Hopefully that's the next update. That would make it far more complete.

Glad that Street View has finally been added, this is a really cool feature that shouldn't get left out!

How do you exit street view? I went through all the options and must be missing something basic. The only work-around I've found is to open up saved searches & go to a completely new location and start all over which is not good.
