In the video, they're holding the two handed gravity gun with one hand. To me that a regresion in gaming and immersion,  but i can handle the gravity gun being that way since its totally fiction. Holding heavy, super high recoil real world weapons (that i have personal experience shooting) with one hand... that is what i call immersion breaking. Seems just a bit contrary to VR is all about.

The Doom 3 devs here didnt even seem interested in 2 handed gripping for long guns either, i wonder how common that sentiment is going to be.

Doing 2 handed grips can be a bit difficult but its not impossible. I do wish they would put in the extra effort to add it though.

It took me a while to get it working correctly in my own game and even then I have troubles making it calculate around "gimbal lock" whenever you aim vertically (it causes the gun to flip around the other way). And thats using Unity's plethora of Quarternion functions, its possible that the functions of HL2 source are entirely different.

The first time I tried the DK2 was with HL2 on Linux with Steam on a colleague's computer at work in 2014. I played for 10 minutes and thought it was the nothing less than revolutionary.  I also got quite sick. It did not even have position tracking because the Linux Oculus driver did not support it. The next day I tried it again and then ordered a DK2. I'm pretty sure if it had been a teleport instead of free movement I would have been very disappointed.

Nice! I played through all of HL1 on my DK1 when it came out, it was insanely good for the time. Suddenly realising my head was no longer parented to my arms was awesome, could shoot behind me while looking forward! Totally up for playing some more HF on the Rift!

HL2 in VR for me was tough on the VR legs... but very VERY cool in small doses.

now with hand tracking and full room..... yep .... i am happy about this!.... fingers crossed will be as polished as doom 3 in VR.

Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

If this is going to be the full game and it's done properly, I can think of at least half a dozen scenes where I'm going to lose my mind! New most anticipated release.

I believe it's the full game and the developers have been holding out on releasing it until it's polished and working perfectly.

Does anyone know of any links where they go through the process of turning a 2D game into a VR one?
