HordeZ Arcade UI mode? Easy weapon swap?

in the options menu options there's a VR arcade UI. I'm not 100% sure what that's for, but I'm guessing it's related to the "Arcade Mode" setup that is displayed on your character, at the right of the menu screen. It suggests that you can switch weapons by touching different areas of your body, I think.

It shows pistols to the side, rifles behind, and swords from the back. I assume that's what it means.  But when having that option checked I can't switch weapons by touching that respective area. Tried various button combos while touching the area and none worked.

Curious if anyone else tried it, and had any success?

I tried that tonight but didn't get it working.
Would be more fun/better than the selecting on the thumb sticks.

I am to understand there's no Rift support whether HMD or Touch. When I played it, half the buttons responded and sometimes things simply went haywire.

Well that's interesting because the devs said no Rift support prior to Dec 12 and after it's been silent.

*off I go to try*

In settings you can select touch controllers.

Nadda option I can see. In fact in the menus, it was not registering inputs sometimes. I struggled to get it to start a game the second time I loaded back in to check the options.

I can see the touch controllers in game.

EDIT: Oh, Steam vs Home version 😞  ...and so it begins.

We're talking about the Home version, not Steam. The Steam version doesn't even work with Oculus, as far as I've tried.

The Touch controllers have worked perfectly for me. Some settings in the game doesn't seem to work, like the Arcade Mode, which suggests you can change weapons by touching the respective areas of your body. Would make this 100x better if it worked that way.

Yar, I've found that out the hard way...Steam vs Home which is why I said 'and so it begins.'
They can't even get developers to publish matching versions on the various platforms.

When asked where is the update for touch, N1k0demus' response was "If you bought the game on Oculus Home then just go to options and toggle Oculus Touch!"

So if the Hordez dev is stating this, that doesn't bode well.

As a former app developer, I can understand the difficulty with trying to match things up to several different devices. You have to write new code for new devices, and Touch was an afterthought since it wasn't available at the time of the game's publication. It's fortunate that they decided to implement Touch capabilities, as it could've been their choice to just leave it as controller based only... but that wouldn't go well for their sales moving forward.

With that said, now that they are supporting Touch, I'm hoping they're actively improving upon it and not just leaving it in this state, which seems like a few options are still missing. Not sure how to reach out to the developers. Their website doesn't have a forum. I suppose I can try to email them and see if they answer.

This isn't about offering support for the other device, he already did that. The issue is that it's been split across two packages rather than combined into one. And meanwhile it's advertised with notes specifically about supporting the secondary device/platform and yet come to find out the fine print (which is nowhere) would state that they are mutually exclusive.

I'd be fine to use a gamepad, but that now no longer responds either with the Touch, because it sees the Touch in game and only responds to those.

To say they are supporting Touch is not an entirely accurate statement.

I'm not sure I understand your issue. Are your Touch controllers not functioning correctly in the game? Or is there a reason you prefer using the gamepad instead of touch, and the gamepad no longer works? Have you tried unchecking the Touch option to see if the gamepad responds? Or restart the game/Home?

The fact that they enabled Touch controls is in fact that they are supporting it. Not sure how they wouldn't be, otherwise?
