Forgive me if this is not the proper board for this question.
My question: Workrooms hasn't been updated in about a half year. Before that, it looked like it got somewhat regular updated. Are there any planned updates coming? What is the future of Workrooms. I hope meta isn't planning on getting rid of it. It is a valuable tool for my office.
same here, I'm a developer working remotely, and this tool turns my tiny home desk into a perfect workspace and is in my opinion better than alternatives like Immersed. I'm anxiously waiting for an update improving desktop streaming (since it's eating up all my CPU on both my machines now and streaming is quite laggy even though I have a capable router and connection and PC). This tool should not die, rather be improved and built into Meta headsets.
Bumping this. Would be nice to see Meta just give us a little love. The option to move monitors (I actually really like the screen size they're fixed to), better keyboard tracking, a wired connection option, and maybe a couple more environments, I'd be so happy.
I use Virtual Desktop for PC gaming via MQ3 and it's superb. Sadly, there's no option to create additional virtual monitors, though it seems to be in development.
Immersed is good, but I can't seem to ever get a consistent resolution, none of my profiles save, it takes a long time to connect, and the menus are so cumbersome.
Ultimately, Meta Horizon Workrooms seems to be the best straight-forward, minimal, and operable product out-of-the-box for Mac. The companion app is very lightweight, the connection happens quickly, the latency is always smooth, rendering virtual monitors happens fast and they're perfectly sized and grouped, it's very solid for what it is. A little attention and some updates would do it well.
It's definitely great to see some updates coming to Workrooms -- we will be seeing some features go away but hopefully it will bring some of the top features that have been requested and streamline the onboarding process which is a great start for the next version!
