Is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 TI compatibile with Link and Quest 2?

Hi,

I am looking to purchase a new laptop which has a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 TI graphics card. Is this GPU compatible with the Oculus Link and Quest 2 headset? On the compatibility list it has NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series* but it does not state TI or it doesn't say "all" either.

Could someone please confirm?

Here is the link to the page that has the compatibility info: https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/articles/headsets-and-accessories/oculus-link/meta-quest-link-...

Hey there, @sean.h! You appear to be wondering about the PC compatibility of Quest 2. Not to worry, we'll be happy to inform you whether the RTX 3070 TI is compatible with the Link Cable or the Air Link. Since it's not on our chart for our supported GPU's we cannot ensure compatibility because it is not listed as supported. We'll leave you with a fantastic piece that we know you'll find useful.

Please let us know if there's anything else that we could do for you, we'll be more than happy!

I can confirm upon your inquiry that with a 2070 RTX you can safely benefit from the Oculus Link. I'm currently running a 2080 RTX, however, when the computer was in service, I made use of an older one with a GPU of the GTX series and even then Oculus Link Cable functioned. Alternatively, please don't forget that with the type of Laptop you are purchasing odds are high it has wifi functionalities and as such Meta ensured for the customers of Quest 2 to benefit from Air Link as well, provided your router is 6.5 GhZ in order to keep up with a seamless, low to none latency over the products Meta Store provide simply by entering settings and activating Air Link connected to your Laptop's wifi. As someone who prefers movement I specifically purchased Quest 2 for the sole purpose of its wireless properties. However, it is worth noting that Oculus Link Cable comes with its boons, one primary boon being high speed recharge as so you may enjoy your experience on Quest 2 without any fear of having to recharge up to 5 times with a non Oculus Link cable. It comes at a price, but it performs on par with the cost, and it comes in a variety of length as per your needs. Hope it helps!

Thanks for sharing @Nyxii.Nebis! It's always awesome hearing from users that have personal experience with the specific PC specs in question. I appreciate your extra insight 😁!

But it actually says on the chart that "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series" is fully supported, with the exception of only 3050 and 3050 Ti. So 3070 Ti should be supported.

Then again, seems Meta has done nothing to add new gpu support for PCVR the last two years, and laptop models are more in the dark than desktop models, so I would not be sure of anything.

I would not buy a Quest 3 until I see it fully supported by the lastest Nvidia and AMD gpus. 2c.
