I am a huge gamer!! I'm a 51 year old female and the #1 thing I'm frustrated with the gaming world is the LACK of games for women!!!! It's obviously men design these games given all the violence and fighting ones they have but it SUCKS there aren't more for women! I believe we females are a huge untapped market and there should be more games for women Like wedding themed, magically themed, raising kids themed, virtual dating themed, designing homes, just cool settings, fairytale, harry potter, witch,, goddess, gardening, shopping, running a business, beauty salon, just to name a few. It's sooooooooooooooooooooo frustrating that we have all these game design companies and yet not one has shown serious interest towards women gamers & customers and created a descent selection to that of games for men!
Yes, I agree with dylan_lineback, good video games aren't gender-specific. My friends and I usually play FFXIV, I think you will like it because it created some of the most iconic characters in video game history.
Are you kidding, there's a lot of female oriented games on quest. And quite a few where the main character that's being played is a female. There's so many, too many actually, animated kid games,puzzle games. All the workout game apps are female oriented too.

I'm also an older gamer and I'm with you. I like all the games they offer, so far, but I would love to have a lot of the simulation games that are on the PC, like The Sims, Farming Simulator, gardening games, driving simulators, etc. I would be all in for that stuff.
