Mars 2020 launch

So, I just watched the Mars 2020 launch live in Oculus Venues, and that was pretty damn amazing. But what I thought was just as amazing is that I was able to have a conversation, and make friends, with several real people while watching the launch. This conversation ranged from how amazing it is to watch the launch and how we wished we could actually be there in person, to the nature of VR and how immersive it can be. And many subjects in between. This got me to thinking about how the most amazing thing with VR isn't the games. No, it's the ability to interact with people from around the world in real time while sharing such events as the space launch or going to virtual gaming conventions. The ability to see the person emoting, to feel like you're actually right next to the person you're talking with... That in my opinion is the true wonder of VR.

But now I am curious, what do other people think is is the most amazing part of VR?
Lo, a quest! I seek the threads of my future in the seeds of the past.

I've enjoyed interacting with other players in the lobbies of VR multiplayer games like Echo Arena, and have attended a few events in AltSpaceVR and Bigscreen. I haven't done the Venues thing yet, in part because I didn't have a FB account until the recent requirement was added.

Now that I can use Venues, I should probably go ahead and check out what they have to offer. Totally misses that there was a Mars launch to watch.
