Multiplayer functionality and App Sharing

Very new to gaming so apologies for novice queries.

What specifically does multiplayer function let me do? Can I play a game in VR with someone else in my household at the same time or do you share headset and take turns.

If we had two headsets can we both share the same experiences in the one game? If so do you need two accounts and purchase same game twice one for each headset.

I was meant to purchase a robot vaccume but I found myself with a vr headset. I'm that new to gaming, my  last game recollection was playing Street Fighter at the local Fish n Chip shop. Any helping hand and share of your knowledge covering the basics would be appreciated.

Hi @SJJackieboi 🙂

Great decision.....I expect you will have a lot more fun with the Quest than with a robot vacume.😅

.....or do you share headset and take turns.

That's the party mode which are offered by some game.

Multiplayer means you can play with other players around the world.

Normally there are public lobbies and private lobbies.

In pulic lobbies you don't know the other peoples, in private lobbies you can invite friends and play with/against them.

If we had two headsets can we both share the same experiences in the one game?

You don't share exact the same experience.....each of you see it from his own perspective - like, you can see the other person, while they will see you.

If so do you need two accounts ......

yes, you need two accounts....there might be games that allow two players playing simultaneously on the same account....but of course, the scoreboard might messed up by doing so.

...... and purchase same game twice one for each headset.

It's possible to share games, so you don't have to buy ALL games twice - one account has to be admin on both headsets to share games between headsets though -  but most multiplayer games requires that both account have its own game.

Add additional accounts to your Meta Quest headset

Turn on App Sharing on Meta Quest headsets

One more thing.

Only the main game can be shared, not  the DLCs. And the one who has only the shared part of the game is not able to buy DLCs because he is not owner of the game.

in my opinion, app sharing makes only sense for games without DLCs.

I hope this helps a bit🙂
