Need for a proper VR tank sim.

I honestly feel like developers are missing out on a really cool and unique chance at an innovative br game here. After searching online for months I have found one WIP game that is similar to what I think would be a good idea, but allow me to elaborate.

If anyone here plays tank sims, I think you know exactly what I mean. If not, the be real gist of a tank sim is that you get to simulate actually being inside of a tank and operating the controls and engaging enemies in a semi-historical fashion (look up steel beats or steel armor to get an idea of what kind of games I'm talking about).

After having had my rift for about 5 months now, I can definitely say that the most stand out feature is that sense of presence you get from good scaling. That's why I think that making a fully fledged vr tank sim would be an awesome idea. For example: with the release of the oculus touch coming soon, you could have a single tank crewed by about 3-4 people, and each person could be using different instruments and controls in their historical purposes/ methods. While it certainly would be a difficult task to create the intricacies of a true tank interior, as well as all of the moving and interact able parts, it would be well worth it.

Despute the fact that tank sims are for a pretty niche crowd nowadays, its implementation into vr would probably appeal to quite a few people. After all, many WOT players have been asking for vr support for a while now. After having seen only one project on this type of game, I was curious to see if anyone else was interested in the same thing. Does anybody else think that having a fully fledged tank sim would be fitting for VR? Mostly considering the fact that there have been nothing on the subject since last year (and it was only one small project anyways for the vive).

Given the enthusiasm for Racing Sims and even Pinball Sims in VR, I agree that there's totally a market for this kind of thing, for all the Tank enthusiasts out there.

BTW, wasn't there an Xbox Kinect game like that? I think I remember watching "Two Best Friends Play" do it.. and naturally, being a Kinect game, the tracking was so bad that they couldn't even operate most of the controls.
It's hard being the voice of reason when you're surrounded by unreasonable people.

Make one yourself. It would be pretty easy to do this with Unity.  You could probably put something together it a few months working on it full time.

What's VR like with War Thunder? Haven't played it since before getting my Rift...

Not tried it yet, but DCS World has some aircraft that support multiplayer, so pilot, co-pilot & gunner etc... That'd pretty cool feature for a proper tank sim. Single player you could swap positions as needed; multi-player, driver, gunner, commander etc...

I've not tried Warthunder ground forces yet but aircrafts in vr work pretty good imo.

I've played both war thunder tanks and planes in VR. The planes are, naturally, fantastic. Tanks on the other hand, not so much. They have bugged models in game, so they seem to always have a haze around them. Also, your view is locked to the hull of the tank, so you have to look backwards in order to shoot backwards. Rather counter-intuitive.
