New arrivals in the Rift Store

EDIT: Old title for this thread was:

"Rift Store has not been updated with new content for a month - never happened before"

But to give new Rift arrivals more focus and attention, I've change the title 😇

Old and original post:

For the last 5 years, I don't recall there's ever been one month between Oculus/Meta adding new content to the Rift Store - but it has just happened - last content was added June 27:

 https://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift/section/1489565597808736/#/?_k=0rb9rv

One reason could be that no new content has arrived - but on Steam we've seen games with full Rift support arrive the last month like:

The above are some of the 40 free or paid games/apps released on Steam the last month. Tower Defender and Lost Ember are special, these games really only support Rift - I think these games were made to be launched in the Rift Store, but that never happened for reasons I don't know.

I haven't tested all of the above games, but both Kayak VR and Lost Ember VR support native Oculus/Meta drivers.

I do hope the Rift Store still continues to provide new content. Ruins Magus is available in the Quest Store, why is the PCVR version only available on Steam? - Seems very strange to me...

Btw, Green Hell VR also supports native Oculus drivers, and devs wrote about 1½ months ago they expected the game soon in the Rift Store - but nothing has happend - also seems very strange to me. 2c.

@RuneSR2  Ya, the poor old Rift store is looking pretty deserted by developers these days.  Probably not surprising because of the popularity of the Quest 2 standalone mobile VR.  Seems that most new paid apps on the Rift store only appear if they are cross-buy with the Quest store.  Better than nothing I guess, esp. if these are good ports (most seem to be, but not all).

I guess Red Matter 2 will arrive August 18 in the Rift Store - it's cross-buy according to the devs, but for now only available in the Quest Store - then again buying in Quest or Rift Store should not matter for this game:

Good to see the wheels running again - hope to see more content soon, I'm sure there's more waiting 🙂

The  great thing about the Rift Store is that you can be sure of getting the optimal performance with your Meta/Oculus hmd - using Steam drivers may reduce performance significantly.

It think both games are only available for PCVR. I haven't tried any of them - so I recommend nothing, this post is just to show this week's menu in the Rift Store 😉

@RuneSR2  Thanks mate.  New to the Rift Store but Uberlaufer has been available on Steam for almost 9 months now.  Written in OpenXR so it's supposed to play well on all headsets.  For Oculus you need to enable OpenXR on your Oculus desktop app.  The Developer said on Steam discussions that he is planning to port it over to the Q2 but he said that 8 months ago so it doesn't look like there's been much progress.  If it does come to the Q2 and is cross-buy I may give it a go.

Warplanes Battles over Pacific is a pretty fun combat flight sim.  I got this included with my VivePort Infinity Subscription +4 months ago.  Also, their other version Warplanes WW2 Fighters is also available for me with VivePort (+1 year ago) but I haven't tried it out yet.  Should be fun though.  I see that both versions are Cross-buy  with Quest/Rift so that's good new.  Neither are Q2-only so that's good news for Q1 users.  They cost aud$27 each or aud$44 as a pack.

Thanks for the Rift store updates mate.  Cheers.

Thanks, Tom - yes, both games have been on Steam for some months, but at least Meta is doing something to catch up 😉

Warplanes - Pacific did catch my interest, but reviews on Steam aren't very good - might give it a try someday, did like the first, but many say the first (WW1) is much better than the new Pacific sequel. Trailer does look nice though - but also need to play Ultrawings 2, need more hours in the day 🙂

Überläufer looks nice, but I'm not that much for early access, I'll await the fully baked cake 😇

Ended up buying the WW2-Pacific game, feels more like arcade and Ultrawings than a sim. Basically it's just the first WW1 game with some WW2 maps.

Tested with the Index and RTX 3090, I got solid 90 fps with res 500% - so it's still a Quest port, but I like res 500%, lol.

I think the game looked better than WW1 - more trees? Better water? But still not much different from the first.

I plan to keep the game, had some fun with it, devs need to eat. My rating 6/10 - and that includes 1 point for solid 90 fps using res 500%. Maybe I can do 144 fps too in res 500% - I'll test later, lol.

Maybe not exactly new arrivals - but for the first time in ... years(?) there an official sale in the Rift Store:

Regarding new arrivals, there is Red Matter 2:

- and Altair Breaker. I will not bring a link to Altair Breaker as this is a new game from the devs who just terminated "Swords of Gargantua". Like Swords of Gargantua, Altair Breaker is an "always online" game which only works as long as the servers are alive. When the server gets shut down, you will lose everything, even the ability to play the singleplayer missions. So beware - Altair Breaker only is available as long as the developers want.
