Back in 2011 when Ready Player One was first a thing, I was totally interested in seeing an Oasis like game. If not an Oasis like game, an ACTUAL Oasis Game. I don't think I'm the only one who wants this to be a real thing. Oculus has the capability of creating this fantasy. I already know, please don't hit me with the "it's not that easy" in the replies. This game could change people's lives, and I know that virtual reality changed my life altogether. If there was one thing I could wish for, it would be this. But throughout the movie and the book, I have noticed some grey areas in technology and what we are capable of doing today. For example, "It takes everything back 60 seconds" if you've seen the movie multiple times, you'd know what I'm talking about. The "Zemeckis Cube". When everything was turned back in time by one minute, nobody remembered anything from that. This is just a big part. Number two, force feedback. I'll take this as an example: giving someone a high five with haptics and/or strings would just feel like your arm is getting pulled back, or a shotgun to the chest and being pulled back would feel the same. Unfortunately, it's all still just fantasy. The thing that keeps me thinking is the endless possibilities that sticks to my mind to this day.
Here's my suggestion. I'll just put it out there right away. One game, one headset. Oculus has been probably the most successful VR company in the world, right next to HTC Vive. Since when has anyone not enjoyed a virtual reality experience? So far, Oculus has had a very good reputation in my opinion. Yes, things can be improved, and this can solve it. Hear me out. A problem that a lot of people are having is the cross platforming issues. If everyone were using the same platform and same network card, it would solve lag issues by a lot. I don't know an exact percentage, does anyone know a real %?
I also had a pretty big idea. What if there wasn't only a standalone headset, but a console for it as well. With all of the best components for running this amazing headset. (But of course they shouldn't be too expensive). The headset itself can be programmed to strictly run with these components. And especially with everything going on in the world right now, this is what everyone needs. A way to go everywhere but go nowhere at the same time.
