I’ve been dealing with some frustrating lag issues on my PC, both while playing VR games and even when I’m not using my Quest at all. During VR gameplay, I noticed frequent stutters and performance drops, making the experience really choppy. But what confused me even more was that my PC also lagged when I wasn’t running any VR games or even using the headset.
I checked my hardware and didn’t notice any signs of throttling for either my GPU or CPU—temps were fine, and usage wasn’t maxed out. After trying different fixes like updating drivers, tweaking settings, and troubleshooting my hardware, I started looking at background processes. That’s when I noticed that Oculus VR Service and Meta Quest Link Service were running.
Just as a test, I ended both tasks through Task Manager, and suddenly, my PC was running smoothly again. The lag was completely gone. It seems like these services were causing the slowdown, even when I wasn’t actively using Link.
I’m not sure if this is expected behavior or if these services are using more resources than they should. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting or official fix for this, or is manually ending the tasks the only option right now?
