Update: for info on DK2 support, see this post

Update 2: for info on SDK 0.4.1 support, see this post

Original:
Inspired by the work that phoboslab and swax did on the Quake port, I put together a release of Quake II with native support for the Oculus Rift. Right now it's Windows only, but it may get a Linux release too at some point in the future.

You need the .pak files from the full game to play, but downloads + instructions can be found on the GitHub page: https://github.com/q2vr/Quake2VR

And yes, the Railgun is still as glorious as ever:

Greetings to all! Great integration under DK2 dghost! Very cool! As for me, there was only one question, ever since the DK1. Right stick X360 gamepad too sensitive ...
And more! I feel a shake when cornering! Is the same as in the demo for Unity. Do not tell me how to deal with these :?:

Very nice. Took part in the Quake2 to Delphi translation many years back - after having played Q2 a lot years before that - and this brings back the feeling of 'new' even if it is the same Edge map. 🙂

Hooray! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I think for me the two maps that really feel "new" in VR have been Tokay's Tower and WareHouse - the way you interact with the verticality of the map seems to change a lot when you're using an HMD.

By default, right stick sensitivity can be adjusted via the Options->Controls->Gamepad->Yaw/pitch speed.

Is there any way you could describe the shake when cornering? I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to here...

Even if the options to reduce the sensitivity of the right stick to the minimum - the sensitivity is still quite high.
As for the shake, it's on my PC with almost all games and applications for DK2. As I found out, this is due to the fact that the application DK2 run in 60Hz instead of 75Hz.
What to do with these, I do not know! Already tried a bunch of ways, and all in vain. Many owners DK2 face such problems ...

Interesting. I'll see about tuning the sensitivity to allow it to go lower for the next release - I have a few things to tweak for the 0.4.2 SDK but I should have something available within a day or two depending on life.

As far as the stuttering / shaking - sadly, nothing I can really do about that as it's a problem with your configuration. The only things I can think of are the normal troubleshooting steps: set the Rift as the primary monitor, make sure Aero is turned off if you're running Windows 7, and as an extreme step you can disable the non-Rift monitor.

The 0.4.2 runtime might also help some things, but I haven't had enough time to really test it yet.

dghost, will you get a STEM (motion control)?

Would be nice to play quake 2 with it

OculusRiftRocks
Explorer
it work amazingly for me.

one Suggestion I would make is climbing up ladders is a bit annoying as you ideally need to hold your head up high, usually peoplea are used to just moving the mouse up high in these situations, my thoughts are to take the camera upwards whenever you interact with a ladder, that way I dont have to hold my head up high.

so with hydra control can this game be played with the hydra right stick set as turn and that when you go to the outer edges of the screen you do NOT turn at all?

The download links on the github page are broken, they result in a "Page not found".

Isn't a configuration problem, I'm sure. both of my systems (Each definitely powerful enough) have the same issue with the game trying to run at 60Hz, regardless of the settings. It causes some serious judder. At least, I'm fairly certain it is because of refresh rate. If I turn the refresh rate on my DK2 to 60Hz, the game is smooth as butter.

Seems the downloads for this are dead now

For anyone still wondering, the Judder problem is fixed (For most) by turning off Aero. So long as your Vsync settings are correct, that should fix every judder problem.

Also, the download links appear to be working.
