Sadly, many new games and apps are of poor quality, maybe made by just one person, maybe made for weak mobile gpus - but luckily there may be many gems hidden in the darkest depths of the Rift Store 😉
For example, yesterday I greatly enjoyed Nanite Fulcrum:
You do get some very detailed statues with tons of polygons, but only a few times I wasn't able to get solid 90 fps using my Rift CV1 ss 2.0.
Nanite Fulcrum basically is comic book reading enhanced for VR - and it's free:

Another free and still very impressive app is Blade Runner 2049: Memory Labs:

ASW 2.0 does come in handy when forcing ss 2.0 with the CV1 in this app - at least with my GTX 1080.
With CV1 ss 2.0 Showdown still looks totally amazing - and can be a great way for the first time to show VR to guests:

Coco VR is still surprisingly great - also Revived using the Index:
Dynamic shadows look awesome, but can be sacrificed for those insisting on solid 90 fps with high levels of super sampling.

Mission: ISS is still among my favorite apps, especially the spacewalk (EVA, extravehicular activity) - works great with CV1 ss 2.0, but also works great Revived:

Even after nearly 5 years, Senza Peso still is fascinating - and again works great with high levels of super sampling (like CV1 ss 2.0):

If you have more suggestions, do add them in a post below!
Note that I avoided apps already included here:

Just saw this for the first time - quite awesome, and hasn't really aged since 2016, but it did win an Emmy back then 😉

Btw, this movie has also been made available for Quest users - but due to the limited processing powers, the Quest version seems to suffer a lot, like described here:
"Sorry to say, this was a let down.
I loved the original experience from several years ago and I was excited to see what they were going to do with the anniversary edition, but I was immediately turned off by the inexplicable decision to retain a 24 fps frame rate for all the animation. I'm sure they did it to stay true to the original but it just ends up looking horrible. I would describe it as though it looks like the animation is stuttering like it was running on old hardware. It does not look natural. I hope the devs can add an option to run the animation at 90 hz."
I just Revived the movie using Index res 200%, and it worked flawlessly.

Just checked the video using Rift CV1 - and although there's no SDE with the Index, I prefer oled for the video. The animated VR movie looks slightly more low-res with Index than CV1, so some SDE is your friend. Also I liked the voices and sound effects better due to the awesome CV1 bass.
Btw, note that what I'm describing here are small details that may add up. - What's the threshold for loving or disliking things? That's the threshold you move when using different hmds. Many may not think about this - but if you find yourself losing interest in a game or app (or maybe VR in general), you may simply be using the wrong hmd, seriously. I have games which are like 9/10 with one hmd, and like 4/10 with another - sometimes the difference is like night and day (like Robinson The Journey using lcd or oled). For this video I'd rate it 7.0/10 using the Index, and 8.5/10 using CV1.

Great apps to see! 🙂
And good point on different devices. It is really the case. You can't just post a screenshot and compare how it looks on those devices. It is not possible.
