Rollercoaster where you can edit the tracks

Hello,

students of mine have implemented the "SPAG RollerCoaster" for the Rift which also let's you redefine the tracks with a build-in editor. We showed this at last years gamescom as one of our projects that we did for VR. All is done from scratch in C++/OpenGL, no existing engines.

Software download (64bit Linux, Debian & Windows, tested on Windows 7 & 8):

Have fun and keep your head inside of the cart at all times... (seriously, DK2 support is not yet implemented 😉

Update:
A new version 1.01 is online. Changes:
* Statically linked - should not need the VStudio redistributable anymore!
* Supports more AMD GPUs
* Editor starts above the ground 😉
* Track format is documented - you can change the number of cars in the track files!
* New *.bat files (Windows) to start the game on the second display for comfy multi-display use (the same can be done for Linux and/or more than 2 screen too, see command-line options)

See README.txt for shortcuts and command-line options.

Strange, our test system was a 64bit Win 8 with a GTX 770. Does the message say anything more?

The msvcrt.dll might be missing, sadly, I don't know which version of VStudio was used to compile this, most likely 2013. I'll check if we can build a statically linked version after easter (normally we do everything on Linux 😉 ).

WOW.

I'm pretty used to VR roller coasters by now after trying so many of them, but there was something really special in this one that made it feel like my first time. The physics were nailed, both in the accelerations and the way the cart is kept on the rails. The camera shake was perfect. Although the surrounding landscape is a little plain, it's well made, and when combined with the lovely design of the track itself, it really drives home the realization of just how high you are at the top. My jaw was open while holding my breath, in horror/thrill of the downward spiral that was to come next.

Consider me titillated. 🙂 Please pass on my thanks to your students for making this.

(And I haven't even looked at the editor yet)
