Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe Demo

Hi Rifters,

We at Agharta Studio received an Oculus Rift a while ago and we decided to add support for our fully featured arcade air hockey game Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe VR, which is available on Steam.

Edit: The game has been updated 🙂

    Extremely responsive game controls.
5 Floors populated with vicious opponents.
Quests and missions system to unlock loads of game content.
Track your progress and gain experience through an advanced levelling system.
Full and extensive Oculus DK1 and DK2 plug and play support.

The advanced demo features Dialogs and Menus that are adapted to the Rift, everything feels right ingame.
The game is very light, runs smooth and there is no loading time thanks to our inhouse engine.

The game's controls are quite simple;

Mouse1 for selecting/ validating / Charging your special strike if you have one
Mouse2 for cancelling/ back and to display the options flying screens / Do some drifting puck strikes
Esc to leave the game
Shift+P to take a screenshot
Space to recalibrate the view

You can move the camera left and right in the lobby using the directional arrows.
The Mouse wheel allows you to set players height during game.

Thank you very much and don't hesitate to grab the game here on Steam!!

I really like this. Standing up - preferably at a table that's about the same height as a real air-hockey table, it almost feels like playing for real.

Because the mecanics are the same (moving a mallet and moving the mouse), once the game was started, I didn't really notice that I didn't move the mouse as far as I would real mallet. My brain sort of just went "ok", and accepted it immediately.

Too bad the game isn't multiplayer - but I guess that's not possible because of latency.

Nicely done!

This is pretty awesome. Using the mouse to control the mallet feels completely natural. At first I thought it was glitching cause every now and then the puck would stop in the middle then shoot towards me randomly. It didn't take long to realize it was a game mechanic. The atmosphere feels nice. When I first looked to the left and saw the alien getting drunk at the bar I couldn't help, but smile. This is definitely a game that shows how badly Oculus needs to solve the motion blur problem. But I can't wait. This is awesome. Great job!

Very well done. Nice atmosphere and polish overall.
Have you considered adding a 1 to 1 movement ratio for the mouse?

Good suggestion, thanks.
We were thinking about that and we'll definitely add that in the next builds.

thanks for the feedback
the game was suprisingly very fit for the oculus. Playing it with the oculus feel very natural.

One interesing point is that you can follow the puck with your eyes like you'll do in front on a real air hockey table, such thing is impossible on a flat screen

This demo is a great showcase of "atmosphere". I had a great time just taking my time to scan the scene and "people watching". The game itself is very fun as well! 🙂

Used to love the old Shufflepuck Café for the Macintosh plus as a kid. Kicked ass. Great idea to do a Rift version of Shufflepuck!
