Some Quest 3 standalone games are lagging / stuttering

I own a Quest 2 and a Quest 3. When playing, for example Beat Saber or Walkabout Minigolf, on my Quest 3, there are moments when there´s stuttering (the ball is stuttering like its reprojection, even though the movement of the hands is fine - in Beat Saber the nearer cubes are lagging and aren´t flying fluidly towards me). With my Quest 2 it´s working flawlessly - there´s no stuttering at all. Do I have a faulty unit or is this a common problem because games haven´t been optimized yet - even though the Quest 3 should (in my opinion) handle the old games without problems?

Hey everyone! I noticed that you all are having trouble with games lagging and stuttering on your Quest 3's. I want to bring this up with our engineers so we can look into this issue further. To do that, though, I need some additional information. Could you let me know if you are seeing this issue only when using the headset as a standalone or if it's also being used for PCVR? Could you please also let me know if your headset is updated to v59 or if you are part of the PTC program for v60? Please provide this information whenever you can!

After the latest update i see stuttering too, even at the main desktop window

Well, I checked the frametimes with OVR Metrics - there are a lot of framedrops in Beat Saber, means the Quest 3 in its current state can´t hold 90 fps - but that´s probably because the Quest isn´t using all of its gpu power - in Beat Saber my device stays at GPU L 2 / 3 (5 would be possible). Maybe that´s a consequence of them trying to improve the battery life because when I got the Quest two weeks ago, every app was running flawlessly.

Having the same issue after the rollingstones update. Micro stuttering here and the through the song and it’s insanely annoy. Bedore the update it was butter smooth.

For me it was also the latest beat saber update which introduced stuttering.

I think with Walkabout Minigolf I also noticed the issue described above but it was already before the latest system update. I'll have to check again.

Maybe we really have some faulty devices. Otherwise wouldn't there be hundreds of posts with the same issue?

I dont think so - i tried "Dungeons of Eternity" (Quest 3 Version ofc) and its running flawlessly without any stuttering. In this game the GPU is running on lvl 4 or 5, in Beat Saber ist only 2/3 (as mentioned above).

As I said before, i guess most games aren´t optimized by now ... So i guess we have to wait until they are optimized.

Hopefully. I mean - Beat Saber had no issues before the last v1.33 update. This is not what I would call optimizing the software especially from a Meta owned company.

Anyway it's quite disappointing when you buy their latest shiny flagship headset with double the graphics performance of Quest 2 (and I upgraded from Quest 1 which should even be a bigger performance upgrade...).

I can understand some frame drops in Red Matter 2 which is graphically quite demanding and it doesn't bother me.

But in a rhythm game it's quite annoying. And shouldn't Beat Saber run on a potato? (I don't know, I'm not a programmer)

update: caved in and installed sidequest and along with quest games optimizer which is $10  and was able to fix the issues. It seems that the last Beat Saber update degraded the graphics and performance. My guess is they did this to tone down power consumption? Regardless, 0 issues now after messing with the graphics settings on quest games optimizer. I shouldn’t have to do this, but it is what it is.
