Star Wars VR Mini-Metaverse

Hey everyone,

We just pushed an alpha release out for an app dubbed ScenePlay that allows you to be Obi, Princess Leia, Luke or a director in a scene from Star Wars Episode IV. We have finally brought an experience where you can just download something and wave a light saber around to the community.

We worked really hard on this so some support from this wonderful sub would be awesome -- and of course, we hope you enjoy the experience.

Here's a download link for OSX/WIN builds: https://www.wearvr.com/apps/dsky-scene-play

Here's a summary of the app: http://dsky.co/apps/sceneplay/

Here's some cool features:

-Teleprompter for reading off lines of the characters in scene
-As Luke, Hydra/mouse support for light saber
-VR C3P0 and R2D2
-Holographic Princess Leia (can you guess which scene?)
-Multiplayer ** COMING SOON

see, now this is cool. Much, much better then 2d photospheres with audio. 😛

ran ok on my gtx650 - though with expected studdering (might just be because of 0.5.0.1 runtimes though or my card sucks - which it does). Looks like your developing a great piece of kit.Look forward when movies can be made this way. One thing after the scene ended it stayed black on returning to menu, I had to atl+f4 to show the menu and get rid of the black - this may be because I am on 0.6.01 runtimes but 0.5 runtimes did give me some black screen issues from time to time.

I think it has a ways to go before being better (not the concept but the visuals/interactions i.e. funding) but it's definitely going to make movies more interesting - I've always wanted to know what background actors are saying for replay value and this might just be the ticket, I think John Gaeta is working on something like this as well.

Is this sort of like the Ready Player One movie narrative games?

@andrewtek - Yes! The idea is to put players into the scene.. literally, the basis of the demo is to ask, "what if you could be any character, in any scene, in any movie?"

Awesome! I just read Ready Player One myself and had the same idea, but you beat me to it 🙂

Just need some speech recognition and a Rock Band-style guage to evaluate inflection and increase your score. 😄
