its normal for the oculus version to be blank in rift as it loads just wait it will come up. you only miss-out on a small intro after it loads.

Ok so this depends on whether or not you're part of the experimental beta branch on Steam. If you are, delete local content and reinstall making sure this time you're NOT in the experimental beta branch. There's a bug where Subnautica doesn't work with the Rift if you're in the beta.

If you've installed it normally and have not opted into the beta branch, I've found that even though the screen is blank inside the Rift, as long as an image is displaying on your monitor (the big ship image, not the menu where you select your save games), then you're golden.

It takes a little bit to load (about 2 minutes for me) but it's working I promise you. Just let it sit for a bit, it'll be a lot longer than you're comfortable with, but it'll come up.

I guess I didn't mention it but I got it on the oculus store...does that make a difference?

Uhhhhh that I'm not sure on. It shouldn't make a difference, but I honestly have no idea.

Sweet thanks. I guess with my ssd I'm just not use to black screens for more then 10 seconds or so without some kind of screen to look at while it loads... Thanks guys!!

Did it finally load for you?

I had the same issue.  Black screen for a long time.  Taking your advice I waited and it did finally come up.  I am not sure if I am part of the BETA version or not.

Yeah, it takes 20-30 seconds to load.

Kids these days, no patience!  Back in my day I had to wait 3 minutes for Fallout 3 to load on an ancient steam powered spinny drive!

LOL, sounds like a challenge.  Here goes then.  Back in 1982-83, when i got my BBC Micro, the secondary storage was in the form of a tape cassette and it would take ages and a fair few failed attempts before you could play even the simplest of games.

"you tell the kids of today and they don't believe a word of it."  🙂

I think i had a floppy disk drive and maybe even a hard drive, 10MB i think it was, when the first version of Elite came out.  I loved that game and actually gave it another try not long ago and surprise surprise, it really wasn't the way i remembered it.  Suffice it to say, i went back to playing ED pretty quickly. 🙂
