Suggestion: Use Quest 3's Second Indicator and Built-in Speakers for Incoming Call Notifications

I have an idea to make the Quest 3 more interactive and convenient when it’s not in use. Currently, the second indicator on the Quest 3 is used only to show the charging status, while the built-in speakers in the straps remain inactive when the headset is idle. I think we could repurpose these features to create a better notification system for incoming calls and other events.

My suggestion:

  • When the Quest 3 is idle (e.g., lying on a table) and I receive a call (via WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.), the second indicator could flash a color like blue to visually signal the call.
  • At the same time, the built-in speakers in the straps could play a standard ringtone to audibly alert me.
  • The second indicator could also flash different colors for other types of notifications: green for chat messages (e.g., WhatsApp or Messenger), purple for calendar events or reminders, red for low battery warnings, and so on.

Why this would be great:

  • It makes the Quest 3 more integrated into daily life, acting like a smart device that keeps me connected even when I’m not wearing it.
  • The second indicator and speakers are already there, so this could be a simple software update for HorizonOS.
  • Users could customize the indicator colors, ringtone, and sound settings, with options to adjust volume or enable a "Do Not Disturb" mode.

I think this small feature would make the Quest 3 feel more "alive" and useful, especially for those of us who love its social features like avatars in calls. What do you think? Would you like to see something like this?
