The dreaded three dot problem

This is a well documented problem of on plugging in the Rift S the VR just hangs with a view of a flat plane with some annoying white dots. In my case I also have a play area defined now.   I have overcome this in an involved way and maybe the details could throw some light on what is going on  . . . so (and I have falcon 4 bms)  . . .

I Start it up by plugging in cables.  This usually gets, in the VR goggles, the empty space, play area cage with grid horizon and the 3 dots.  At this stage hand controller buttons dont do a thing and the PC oculus screen is black and featureless. .

I then Fire up falcon4 in open xr mode, start the instant dogfight, and once its running it appears in the VR.

I then Escape and end the instant action and exit the very next debrief screen, the VR still remains “in VR” looking at the falcon screen.     Now press oculus button and suddenly the rift stuff appears, the curved work bench which can bring up settings etc and my library. Somewhere around here there is an option to quit the falcon VR. Looking at the PC the stubbornly blank oculus screen now has Home, store, library, devices and settings options to work with.  In my apps library through VR (though not on the PC library option)  are the three tutorials I first saw.  Among them is “first steps” which if pointed at and clicked on kills everything off and we go back the empty space in VR, with the hand controller buttons doing nothing. You have to start falcon again and go through it all again to get it to work again. .  If you click on either of the other two (no first steps) there is a momentary loss of everything, then it reappears but shifted anticlockwise a bit.   A flying app that I bought from Meta and downloaded is shown in the VR library  and it works.

Is there enough there for someone to explain what is going on?  It seems that the oculus isnt "woken" up enough to respond to hand controls until the falcon 4 has hit it. And why trying to run the first steps turorial kills it all off . . . .

I should finish of my earlier post . . .  after a week or so the situation has mostly sorted itself out, without me doing anything. Now when I plug the headset in the link screen usually appears as it should. Sometimes the headset shoes a not connected red dot, fixed either by re-plugging the headset in or sometimes by rebooting. But now more often than not it works fine, though the "first steps" tutorial still kills it off.  I have also since loaded steam and steam appears as an option through vr, so it all seems pretty good.
