Which VR games and apps did SteamVR users like the most in 2023? - Here are the highest user rated and paid Steam “VR Only” games and apps in 2023 – with at least 100 ratings for more trustworthy statistics (registered Dec 17 2023):
1. I Expect You to Die 3 – 97% are positive of 303 users
2. Vertigo 2 – 96 % of 1700
3. Barbaria – 95% of 102
4. The 7th Guest – 94% of 180
5. BattleGroupVR – 93% of 751
6. Drums Rock – 93% of 241
7. The Light Brigade – 92% of 642
8. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 – 91% of 908
9. AMID Evil VR – 91% of 199
10. Grimlord – 88% of 480
11. VR Giants - 88% of 105
12. Tactical Assault VR – 87% of 881
13. Propagation: Paradise Hotel – 86 % of 369
14. Shapelab – 85% of 160
15. All-In-One Sports VR – 84 of 530
16. Hellsweeper VR – 84% of 176
17. Guardians Frontline – 83% of 173
18. Z.O.N.A Project X VR – 83% of 111
19. Warplanes: Battles over Pacific 81% of 120
20. Ghosts of Tabor – 80% of 4992
I guess Ghosts of Tabor with 5000 ratings is the best selling SteamVR game released this year...
Note that I avoided VR supported games as these are heavily affected by 2D users. Avoided free apps too, as these may be inflated by users gratitude for getting free stuff.
Personally my 2023 Steam favorite list would be (now I include some VR supported games, but my judgment is not biased as I never tried the 2D mode, lol):
1. Vertigo 2
2. Undead Citadel
3. District Steel
4. The 7th Guest
5. Firmament VR
6. Arizona Sunshine 2
7. Crossfire: Sierra Squad
8. Humanity VR
9. Memories from Beyond a Coral Sea
10. Grimlord
11. Propagation: Paradise Hotel
12. Saints & Sinners: Chapter 2
13. Urbo
14. Hello Neighbor VR
15. Peaky Blinders
16. F1 2023 (works great with Index after recent patches, but I already got F1 2022)
17. Arashi (just got patched).
18. Five Nights at Freddy's 2: Help Wanted 2
19. Colossal Cave VR
- but I'm not into multiplayer - or Quest ports which aren't greatly enhanced for PCVR.
Btw, this does mean - to me - that the great winner this year is PSVR2, which totally dominates with AAA games like Call of the Mountain, RE4 & 8 VR Mode, Gran Turismo 7 - and non-AAA like Synapse. My VR game of the year would be Call of the Mountain, then RE4 VR Mode and third place goes to Vertigo 2.

Note, if anyone cares in here, I've added the updated list here, where more than 30 comments have been added in a day:

I'm often discussing on Reddit the relation between the number of ratings and number of sales. Of course titles differ, but Valve just published the best earning VR titles in 2023 on Steam - if I correlate number of ratings with sale category (platinum is best followed by gold, and then silver), we get:
Source: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/BestOf2023?tab=5
So the correlation between number of ratings and number of sales seems incredibly strong - as I would expect it to be.
BTW, for the fun of it, I tried to correlate ratings and sale category - and chance of this happening randomly is less than 1/1000, lol:
This is Spearman statistics using SPSS. The correlation coefficient is negative meaning the more ratings, the lower the sale category - but I did set platinum to 1, gold to 2 and silver to 3. So there you have it - ratings strongly correlate with number of sales 🙂 The full p-value was p=0.00083.
