Btw, maybe I should mention that in the original post I only included games which I thought could have a chance of getting a 90% rating (4.5/5).
There are tons of new games and apps coming this year, but most did not impress me.
If you're into Steam games, upcoming PCVR games can be found here:
https://store.steampowered.com/vr?flavor=contenthub_upcoming
I'm sure there're several diamonds in the rough, but hard to judge from 2D trailers.

Suddenly 2023 got a lot more interesting!
I started losing interest in Half-Life 2 when Episode 1 arrived, didn't even finish Episode 2.
But VR is a game changer, and while Half-Life 2 is very dated, Episode 1 and 2 may indeed be better and more interesting. Episode 1 could be great in VR, maybe even one of the most important releases this year. Half-Life 2 VR Mod has a 97% average rating on Steam, or same as Alyx, and should not be underestimated 🙂

I was genuinely happy to see this announcement - after 6 years, the game is launching - and this is no small release, the game looks awesome, and the current playable demo is of great quality too:
Find the game here - there's also a playable demo:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/616820/District_Steel/
RECOMMENDED System Requirements:
I've been following the game for years, and once thought it was abandoned, so great to be wrong - and the demo was very promising. 2c.

Forgot to include Cradle of Sins on the list - the game is expected anytime (Q1 2023) and is looking good now with Unreal Engine 5 support:

Vertigo 2 is looking great, I did not like the playable demo much though:

District Steel is out and is totally amazing, get it on Steam. Seeing the game after its 6 years in development is a great experience, and the quality is sky high. In the game, rocket jumping while activating bullet time (=slowmotion) is a first and I can't remember having more fun in VR for a very long time.
Even more astonishing - another game namely Undead Citadel seems to be launching soon:
District Steel is my current PCVR game of the year, but maybe I'll soon change my mind, lol 😉 Undead Citadel has been on my most wanted list for years.

Btw, The Light Brigade is out and has gotten nice reviews (97% positive out of 70 ratings on Steam):

I have not tried the game yet, I'm overwhelmed with all the PSVR2 games.
Note that if I should get the game, I'd buy the PCVR version, not the PSVR2 version. Checking out titles like Thumper and the Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, there's really no way the PSVR2 can match Index + RTX 3090 with tons of super sampling. Game is $25 for both Steam and PSVR2 - but you cannot refund using PSVR2 when downloaded, there's no 2 hours testing any game or app like the Meta Store and Steam.

Firmament from Cyan (Myst, Obduction etc.) just got a release date:
"OMG, A RELEASE DATE!
First, the news so many have been waiting to see: Firmament will release for Windows (2D & VR) and MacOS on Thursday, May 18th, 2023. Plan your vacation days accordingly!
All other platforms (PS4 / PS5 / PS VR 2) will launch at some point down the line, and we’ll share dates and details about that here when we have more information."

Might be one of the biggest PCVR releases this year - maybe...

The racing sim "F1 23" will also support PCVR - so now we have a real AAA PCVR game arriving this year:

Maybe Saints & Sinners 2 can count as another AAA PCVR game this year...
