Time Rifters - First Person Shooter - Released on Steam

Ever wanted to play a game where you control all of your teammates? Now you can in this single player co-op shooter!

Time Rifters is a single player co-op shooter where 'time rifts' allow you to be your own teammates. In each arena you will have 4 chances to defeat as many enemies as possible, but you won't be alone because with each new life you'll be joined by replays of your previous lives. Strategically plan your attack with yourself in the past and future.

Time Rifters was built from the ground up for the Oclus Rift and was a finalist in the Oculus/IndieCade 2013 VR Jam. We think VR games will be a big hit once the consumer Oculus Rift is released. Until then we are making sure that the game works great without a Rift too (but it's way more awesome in VR).

  • Single Player Co-op

  • Let's Replay system (asynchronous multi-player mode)

  • Developed for standard monitors & the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset

  • 6 Upgradable Weapons

  • 3 Episodes, with 5 arenas each

  • High Score Boards

  • Custom-made soundtrack

Holy Crap.. I can't believe how much this has evolved since the first demo... There are so many good things about this:

The lobby alone is fantastic! I like the fact that even the selection "buttons" have depth to them. The HUD is incredible, and the music is perfect for the Mirrors Edge-style graphics, which look awesome. I also like the player body, which for once does not feel difficult to handle and align with head movements and such. Performance is really good as well - it's running smooth as butter.

Notes on the Linux build (as always) :
Unfortunately, there are still issues with the right trigger button on the Xbox controller. I don't know if it's something that can be fixed from Unity itself, but I can't seem to re-assign the buttons to make them work correctly 😞 I guess I can play with mouse and keyboard, but that's just not the same... with a game like this, I prefer standing up.

If anyone can figure out how to re-assign that blasted right trigger, I'd really like to know how!

Voted on Greenlight!

Our pleasure 😛

Kenzie & I watch your videos every morning over coffee. You've had a few hilarious moments recently, one where you deduced the baby in Among the Sleep must have a crack smoking mother locked in one of the rooms. Your excitement with the bong in Exploration School was fun too.

I'll take a look into this. Both the right trigger and right bumper should shoot. Thanks for the greenlight comment too!

Thanks! I think perhaps it can be fixed in the Unity editor, but I'm not sure.

From what I understand, the problem is mainly that the triggers in Windows are treated as a single axis, whereas in the Mac and Linux config, they're separate (but I may have misunderstood this).

The difference is shown here: http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php?title=Xbox360Controller
To make matters worse, there's even a difference in configuration between the wired and the wireless config 😞

Oops.. forgot to mention another small issue with the Linux zip: The data-folder should be named TimeRifters_0.5_Data instead of TimeRifters_0_Data

That is so cool to know, glad I can entertain you guys! Being able to pick up a bong or anything for that matter is a really immserive experience. 🙂

I just got done playing Time Rifters, I am all most with out words it was so good. I haven't beat it all just the first episodes and the first boss. I'm really glad y'all decided to keep the Boss he was really fun and still is. Just one question to unlock the "bonus" level do we have to get all diamond or is there a secret to unlock it? I will be doing a video of this some time today. It is great to see how far this has come and I really hope you get green lighted on steam!

P.S. I love the music and the visualizations in the main level!

Thanks! So glad you like the game and music. We removed the visualizer from the game shortly after we released the last demo and I missed having it in the clone room. I was so happy when the start menu design came together and it had a perfect spot for the visualizer.

Regarding the Bonus Level, there is a rainbow sphere the flies around arena 2, shoot this to unlock the level (I find it tricky to hit and I usually just get it by accident). By the sounds of it you have also beat the demo as it only has levels in Episode 1, Episode 2 & 3 are future development.

Look forward to seeing your video 😄

Excellent stuff. The menu design is absolutely fantastic, and it just all seems to be coming together so well.

Couple of things I noticed - you might want to disable the power jump in the menu area (or put some invisible walls in) as it's possible to jump your way up the walls and out of there 😉

I've also had it just hang on a black screen when exiting the game, though the menu music just kept on playing in the background.

Voted for it on Steam, hope it gets on there.

The first thing that one of our tester did when he played the game was try and escape the level. We figured if he tried it other people would as well and decided to build that into the game. If you escape the Start Menu area you get teleported to one of the buildings that is in the distance and there is a pathway back to the start menu. We also added an extra achievement into the game if you escape one of the levels (only level I have escaped is arena 1).

Thanks for the heads up on this. We have not seen this happen in testing but will now be keeping our eyes out for it.
