Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice is out on Quest, PSVR2 and PCVR. Quest is the low-end version only running at 45 fps with reprojections, low-end textures and no dynamic shadows and no real-time lighting. The PS5 and PSVR2 using foveated rendering with eye tracking and being more than 10 times faster than the Quest 2, did get enhancements like realtime lighting and dynamic shadows - and higher res including more high-res textures. Still, PSVR2 is only 60 fps with reprojections using hands like in Alyx - using arms the performance would often be much less than 60 fps. In Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice you can choose between using only hands or having full arms - but there is no full body. With PCVR we can now finally use arms even in 120 fps - if your rig is fast enough:
With the brute force of my RTX 3090, I can now use arms with Index res 300% (27 million pixels per frame) + 4xMSAA + highest levels of textures and shadows in solid 80 fps. Love being able to use arms instead of hands, arms are much more immersive, also for presence.
Btw - that small crossbow is just awesome:
So you do get to shoot - not just bite. But there's plenty of biting too:
Snack time...
Only PCVR has settings
I tried looking for places where I could see some high-res textures - very hard, because most textures look very low-res and probably are from the Quest version - but here I think I found some more high-res-ish textures:
See the ground textures in the top image and the textures in the bottom of the boat for examples of more high-res textures. I am using the highest possible graphics settings in the game
You get no dynamic shadows in the Quest version, and PSVR2 can only do it in 60 fps - while PCVR gives you everything in ultra-smoth 90+ fps
The PCVR version has one severe error though - I need to turn on an XBox controller or the game will not start in VR. When started, Index controllers etc. work perfectly. But you can deactivate the message and then the game works fine.
The real-time lighting is awesome too - only available for PSVR2 and PCVR, not for the Quest standalone version:
In the image just above, see how the light radiates from the windows - looks awesome inside the game
This is a beefed up Quest port, and it shows many places. Npcs are quite low-poly, but get the job done:
Yup, not the best looking dude, but some say looks aren't everything some - and he's got a great personality 😉
The game is greatly enhanced with much better lighting, antialiasing, dynamic shadows, better textures - and we get much higher fps and res. As said, this is the definitive version of the game, there really is no comparison. Quest 3 is only 45 fps, and PSVR2 is 60 fps, which are way too low fps for proper immersion and presence - and might increase motion sickness. You need at least solid 80 fps for this game.
My rating 8/10 for the PCVR version - 6/10 for PSVR2 due to only 60 fps with hands and no arms, and annoying reprojections.
I do love being able to drink a lot in Venice! 😉

Btw, Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice is here:
PCVR - released February 6 2024 - 84% of ratings are positive (50 ratings):

PSVR2 - released Nov 2 2023 - average rating 85% (305 ratings):

Quest 2 & 3 - released Nov 2 2023 - average rating 86% (421 ratings):

Seems ratings are much the same. Note that PCVR has only been out for 4 days, while Quest and PSVR2 have been out for close to 100 days, so therefore PCVR is expected to have fewer ratings. Interestingly, already today the 355 ratings for PCVR + PSVR2 (high-end versions) are quite close to the 421 ratings for the Quest version. So devs better not underestimate the significance of making a great high-end version 🤓 😎

A few more shots:
I told my wife, I want one for Christmas!
Shooting is easy - you just aim and pull the trigger 🙂
The game includes quite a lot of running dinners 😁
Yup, might give some street credit if worn in the real world... 🤔 😎
Btw, I also made two posts on Reddit to help the devs get some attention - you can follow the comments here:
