Virtual Desktop is a little utility that improves your VR experience on the desktop. By efficiently replicating your desktop into the Rift, the application allows you to see your desktop on a giant virtual screen. You can browse the web, watch movies or even play non-VR games. It also allows you to launch VR games and resume from them without having to take your headset off.

After you launch Virtual Desktop, a tray icon will appear in your taskbar. From there you can manage your list of games, change your settings.

You can also drag & drop executables or shortcuts to add more games to your list.

Requirements
- Windows 8 or 10
- Oculus 1.3 Runtime

Latest Changes
- Added ability to browse 360 photos
- Added mirror to monitor feature

All I see is my wallpaper. I have my DK2 set as second monitor and my 27" Asus as my primary.

Is there any way to change the displayed monitor to something other than the primary? The problem that I'm having is that a game requires the Oculus to be the primary. I need it to display my other monitor.

Okay, Virtual Desktop doesn't cease to amaze me.

I fired up Darksiders II in Virtual Desktop, and wow, it just worked. I was playing the game on my huge-a$$ Virtual Desktop, floating in front of my eyes!

But when I was running the game, I had severe judder. Not in the game itself, the non-stereoscopic graphics of the game were silky-smooth, but whenever I moved my head, the tracking was juddery as hell.

So my question: Is there an option to turn off headtracking from within Virtual Desktop, so I got the virtual screen fixed in front of my eyes?

That would alleviate two problems for me that I had when playing non-rift content:

a) eliminate judder 🙂
b) eliminate my desire to move my head in order to move the in-game camera instead of using the mouse/right thumbstick.

Having the same issues, I second that!
Great software though.

Very - VERY cool indeed.
Got this working perfectly after the install without any issues. Some excellent work here.
Pretty much use this all the time now as it just makes life so much easier when in extended mode.
Awesome.

Hello, I am trying to use Virtual Desktop, but the cursor is invisible when using it. If I look at my monitor I can see my cursor, but I can't in Virtual Desktop. When I first installed it it was working great, but every time I've used it since then my cursor disappears. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no luck. Any idea what might be causing this?

Also seeing nothing on Windows 8 but black rectangle where the display texture should be. The space background is there, though.

Hi folks, big update today, finally multi-monitor support is in! Well at least for the curved screen, I'll need to implement it for the flat screen at some point. Note that the performance with multiple monitors is likely going to suffer on Windows 7 so I highly encourage you to upgrade to Windows 8 as there is no performance penalty with additional screens.

I've also added the ability to have a transparent wallpaper, by using the Transparent screen option (in combination with the clear wallpaper button). I wanted to have this through a single checkbox but there's unfortunately no way for me to properly restore a wallpaper slideshow that the user had setup in windows. So eventually I'd like to just have an option for "Transparent Wallpaper" that activates at launch and restores whatever wallpaper you had on exit.

Let me know what you guys think!
