Virtual Desktop is a little utility that improves your VR experience on the desktop. By efficiently replicating your desktop into the Rift, the application allows you to see your desktop on a giant virtual screen. You can browse the web, watch movies or even play non-VR games. It also allows you to launch VR games and resume from them without having to take your headset off.

After you launch Virtual Desktop, a tray icon will appear in your taskbar. From there you can manage your list of games, change your settings.

You can also drag & drop executables or shortcuts to add more games to your list.

Requirements
- Windows 8 or 10
- Oculus 1.3 Runtime

Latest Changes
- Added ability to browse 360 photos
- Added mirror to monitor feature

Excellent! I was really looking forward to this! Thanks!

By the way, Guygodin, I want to make a donation but paypal is not really an option to me. Can you send us a bitcoin number, please?
Owner of a DK2 since October 2014. Anxiously waiting for the delivery of the CV1.

Just installed the test build, works like a charm, really loving direct mode!

After a while though, head tracking always freezes, the virtual desktop system tray turns gray and says "Error on SubmitFrame, the operation timed out"

Keep up the great work, Virtual Desktop is definitely one of my favorite tools for the Rift!

Works great in direct mode! Also started some VR demo's (demo scene and MaxVR) which run nicely. Running Diablo 3 was a bit too much, but this maybe due to the settings I use in that game. Actually this reply has been typed in my browser in Virtual Desktop. Cool! 🙂

I have a version of Virtual Desktop built against the 0.6 runtime which supports both Direct an Extended mode and would need some volunteers to try it out. Here's a link to the installer.

Very exciting! I will try it!

Tested in i7 4770K and Nvidia 870Ti (CPU Utilization 4%) - (frame rate 75fps) -( 10 ms >HDM latency < 14ms). I got the Oculus rift a week Ago, this is my first look to Virtual Desktop and.... is impresive, exelent work. Relike =====b

Can't get virtual desktop to load in Direct mode or Extended I get an error on startup "error on submit frame the operation has timed out" the tracking camera light turns on but just an orange led on the rift in direct mode and extended flashes a bunch of times and gives the same error. I removed the previous version of Virtual desktop and installed the SDK 0.6.0 fresh install.
Windows 7
SDK 0.6.0 is installed
and running latest nVidia drivers 353.06

Edit: got it working just needed to reboot twice go figure. Oculus demo scene works perfectly and every thing runs smooth.

Works better than ever, win7 with GTX 980. Direct mode performs perfectly, with smooth head tracking.

Finally Direct mode! And the way it works! Flawlessly! With a latency around 12-13 ms! Hat's off to you Sir!
Edit: Not really flawlessly, but still, pretty darn good!

Oh, my fault! Thanks!
Working flawlessly with my rig (demo scene exit included). Awesome!
I don't know if it's me but I would even say that it feels higher res (could be a side effect of the lower latency); specially for admin tasks in windows it feels closer to a really comfortable tool.
One more thing. If I configure the resolution to 4K with nVidia DSR (really useful for multitasking) it works perfect.. as long as I don't move the mouse.. then it drops to 73-74 fps and stuttering kicks in. In case you want to check it out 8-)
