It was already annoying enough that trying to add apps/games to my account via the GearVR Oculus app started returning "Execution of this query is blocked" errors earlier this year... but at least I could still just easily use the site. A little drop down menu to get to GearVR section and I could keep on keeping on. Search results were even neutered so that I would only see GearVR stuff. Which was... fine... I could work with that! I even made a shortcut that took me straight to the GearVR section. As of this site redesign, that shortcut now redirects me to the generic "Quest Experiences" page... any attempt to access a GearVR app or game page via a link or Google search also redirects me.
I basically have to find it within the Oculus app on my phone and add it to my wishlist, then access my wishlist on the site if I want to buy GearVR content (or even just add free items).
Also accessing the wishlist seems to involve more steps.
Also also it doesn't appear I can use DownQ to grab apks via the "Downgrade" method as of right now (unless I'm doing something wrong or my plugin needs an update).
They REALLY don't seem to want us to keep enjoying old tech. And I'm like why? I'm still buying games. Y'all still get money from me 😅
It's a shame, because... imo GearVR's still good stuff! I was testing a bunch of games to see how much I could get out of GearVR in this day and age... 126/143 apps/games are still working, many are still awesome VR experiences even in 2023. I get that GearVR's old stuff most of the world's left behind... and that they really want me to just buy a new headset (and I will eventually), but it'd be nice if that push could be done without behind-the-scenes attacks on a platform that people can still enjoy.
Yikes, sorry for whatever Rift PCVR enthusiasts exist. Kinda makes me wonder if the next step is finding some way to stop us from even having access to purely offline local paid GearVR games (and I suppose Rift PCVR too).
Ok, the Rift PCVR store is there, but there's no easy way to get to it. They changed the URL but also removed the drop down list for selecting which store to look at.
I have Oculus Go (or Meta Go) and its disappeared from the Website and cant bring up the store on my Device. That might be just my Go that screwed up. Even tho it was working a month ago. The only way i can buy new Go games is threw the app. I don't know what there thinking. Meta becoming as bad as Nintendo in supporting old products. Is it that hard to have a drop down list on the website. When you have the stuff for sell somewhere else.
