Not affiliated with them in any way whatsoever but this game looks really cool. Haven't heard tell of it and just happened across it by accident so I thought I'd refer it out to the fine community here.
Bought into this one last night from their site, got a steam key and installed it all there and turned off the OR services
Bit of a problem getting it running on the OR screen until i hit windows key P.
Found it to be a very immersive experience, especially with the details like air bubbles coming from your breather and the feeling of inertia you get when you see your body floating and doing what you would expect it to do underwater. When you go to the surface your arms float to the top and you can see your body doing what it should when your shadow appears on things. Great attention to detail and a wonderfully relaxing feeling when exploring the ocean floor. Had no problems with FPS judder and it if dropped below 75 i didn't notice at all. (780ti x 2 sli) - there seems to be 4 maps to explore and a lot of polish on things for such an incomplete game. Lots to see and you can tell the devs are putting a lot of effort in to make it a fun game and not just a tech demo.
Definitely up there quality wise and I had a real feeling of swimming underwater. It definitely made me want to explore the entire areas.
I just set a -adapter command in the launch options to force it the rift every time it launches. A spent a good hour on a dive earlier, did that big ship wreck one, fantastic. So far I've found 1 pearl and 3 doubloons, can never find the objects I'm supposed to photograph for the daily xp though.
I have had it for awhile and it is pretty cool on my DK1. At first it was very un-optimized but seems to be getting better.
I was pretty worried though when a dev said a while back in a forum post below "I think if the game runs at 30 fps it will be good enough." when speaking of optimization in general. Another poster and myself replied that 30 FPS would not be acceptable for running on the Oculus Rift but never got a response.
I have not been following it as close the past few months though but the latest version on Steam seems to run better on my 780 GTX though I have not checked FPS.
Cant get this to launch on rift. I kill all services in service manager and then open the program and it recognises the rift. I close then reopen the program and it launches in rift mode on monitor and responds to rifts movements but does not display in rift. Any help please
Reading through that old post the game definately seems more optimized now. They have added AA to the menu but it doesn't seem to do anything, also the change of settings have very little effect. The game does look great in dk2 and runs well on my machine, but an extra 10-15fps would make it perfect.
There doesn't seem to be much talk on their forums with regards to vr, threads are probably long buried. I might start a topic later requested a dedicated section for vr, would make sense to have one as the game is supporting dk2 and seems to be build with vr in mind.
Regardless, this is without doubt one of the best vr experiences I've had to date, I really do get immersed in this one.
Bought this today...goddamn it's fun! Nice slow paced game...has anyone got this working in Direct mode? The option is there and their official Rift guide says it can happen, but I get nothing but the orange light... :?
Yea, works for me in direct and extended from the steam launch menu. Performance in the Lockheed dive is 75fps constant, which is really nice. Others dives are not so optimized and always before I dive in on the character screen there is judder. Direct and extended made no diference to me, the performance should improve next runtime perhaps.
