Would you play Eve: Valkyrie if it wasnt VR?

I don't know if I would. The flight mechanics are rather simple. There are no vertical/horizontal thrusters, in fact you can only move forward there is no stopping or reverse. The menus are not very simple to navigate. You can't choose what map you want to play and its difficult to tell who are  humans and who is a bot. Also, there are real money transactions and you know that would generate a lot of negative reviews.

Just wondering about other's opinions.

One of the things I like about the game is the simple flight controls.  I just cant get into games where you have to simulate everything, lift the landing gear, retract the scoop deploy weapons etc...  I just wish they had made a campaign mode.
As far as playing if it wasn't VR, I don't think, at this point, I could ever play a flight sim, space flight sim game again on a monitor...

It was interesting and pretty fun to play but it was definitely not that killer App Oculus was telling you about.  It definitely had some things going for it, such as being able to sit in a cockpit and have large streamline movement without getting sick.

Buuut forget about that last bit because you run into the crux of a lot of simple space games.  WELCOME TO TURNING SIMULATOR 2000!  Where you constantly are turning to try and catch the tail end of the person who is chasing someone else in a big circle. Because of the lack of a detailed skybox/background this allows you to do this for quite a while. But even people that I got to try this who do not experience motion sickness, after a long play session were all feeling a little bit of general discomfort.

Would I play Eve if it was not VR.. probably yes for a little bit, and with flight controllers to make it a little more interesting. But I would probably not play it for that long the lack of being able to communicate and target people often makes you feel that you mise well be against bots as well.

I do not think it is bad by any means it is quite impressive in a lot of tech area's it is just how simple it is, and that it is a space dogfight turnmobile, makes it lose some of its shine.

@Fogwalker you're so right about the turning. I tried going up against a very experienced player who was using the same ship as me but he kept kicking my ass in dogfights by out-turning me. We would be doing constant circles until he eventually pulled an angle that allowed him to shoot me. It turns out that you rotate faster depending on the direction your ship is facing...

It's a great game but for me it's something that I can dip into and only play for around an hour before I get a bit bored.

To answer the original question: I probably would play on PC. I actually tried to join the beta without a HMD but no luck. Unfortunately you need to look around to aim weapons effectively so you wouldn't last long using a monitor.

Probably not.  I also didn't play Elite Dangerous until I could play it in VR.

I wouldn't play anything thats not VR,
since I got my DK1 nearly three years ago, I never went back to play any games on a monitor.

I am starting to wonder if I will play Star Citizen if it's not VR, and I have a lot of money into that game.

No I don't think so. For a game that costs ~$60, I don't like how much grinding is required to unlock new ships. I got bored of playing with the default ship and I don't want to purchase any ingame currency. I don't like games that do this.

No you can't. My x-55 already had a descent scheme but its sure not what I would have mapped. I have read that it is being worked on by the devs though.
