I am stuck right after I got Quill back.

a walkthrough showed me there should be a red glow in a pressure plate to show it is active, but after the fight it didn't get activated. now I can't lift up the staircase.

If I were you, I would try if uninstalling and reinstalling of the game can fix your issue..... sometimes it's really that easy.
Make sure cloud backup is enabled - normally it's set by default - before you uninstall the game.
