Hello,

http://vrjam.challengepost.com/submissi ... on-revenge

This is a twin-stick shooter kinda game, but without twin-sticks. Instead you only use head movement to move your thingy around.

Since a video is better than a thousand words:

Latest APK:
On the mobile jam challenge page: http://vrjam.challengepost.com/submissi ... on-revenge

direct link: https://vrjam-submissions.s3.amazonaws. ... NGE_09.apk

I'd love to get any kind of feedback from you, so thanks!

Seems like globally-signed APKs are working great! That was painless.

The game itself is pretty trippy. At first I thought the background past the game sphere is going to be a bit much to handle, but I spent all my time focusing on closer objects anyway so that was fine.

Everything running rock solid even when there's a lot going on. Definitely requires a swivel chair to get the most out of it.

Since your description says all you do is use head movements, I didn't really think too much about the fact that my "thingy" only shoots beams out in 3 directions. I'm guessing that's part of the gameplay, to get situated so that these fixed-direction beams will hit the stuff that's chasing you. Once I went with that theory, I had some fun and almost got through the third wave.

I like that you've got the back button restarting the whole thing. Makes it easy to pass around, I'm sure.

Thanks for sharing and good luck!

Just tried it out really like the immersion, sound is catchy too. very smooth.

Will a hi score be added later? This was my first game played in VR jam...thank you for creating a positive first impression.

Yeah good first build, feels like an inproved Minotaur Rescue! Even though its designed for just head movements, if possible can u add joypad inputs for directional fire?
But yeah feels nice and smooth, good 3d effect and good music too, look forward to hi score being added good job!

Yes, it's really cool with a swivel chair, it's a great input method 8-)

This kind of game definitively calls for highscore rankings. I'll setup a scoring system before the end of the jam and a fake highscore board to show the intention (won't have time to setup it up before the end of the jam, it can wait).

There could be a different game mode with gamepad. That's a good idea. I'll see about that after the jam.

Thanks all for your feedback, very much appreciated 🙂

Howdy,

I have updated my latest test build with the scoring system (grab thoses yellow pills!), some more enemies and more waves.

Grab the APK here: https://vrjam-submissions.s3.amazonaws. ... ektron.apk

I'd like to get feedback on the difficulty and the gameplay mainly.

Let see who's got the best score
(I got a little 300K on the video...)

I am at a point now where I can spend some more time on enemies behaviors and adding new gameplay, which is fun. I am really enjoying this Jam, the pressure is inspiring! (will to have to sleep next week... )

Wow great improvements since the last version! I love the 3D aliens to interupt gameplay and give something else to dodge, a nice inclusion.

Btw i got 414,000 ish and it didnt ask to enter my name for the high score table even though you only need 200,000 to get on it.
One other thing, i notice you dont get points for shooting enimies only collecting the pills, i feel some small points should be awarded still, just my thought of course.

This really puts Jeff Minters game to shame btw!

I have not implemented the leaderboard yet, and I won't for the jam. I put it there to show the intention though.

Yes, you are right you should be rewarded a bit for killing an enemy. I have added this to my current version.

I am also working on power up right now that give insane mega firepower for a shortwhile. 8-)
