Much improved performance, easier building and a consistent highscore. As we're no longer competing in the VRJam, we also enabled a non-rift mode. Just disconnect the Rift-USB-connection and start. Enjoy!
In Rift Ramps you traverse ramps, which you can also modify or build completely yourself. Everything is totally physics based and thoroughly simulated. You get up the highscore by gaining distance to the solid ground. Of course, the ramps get wobblier the higher they get. Stunt Car Racer for the Amiga was a big inspiration for the concept.
Enter your name with a (360)controller or keyboard. Mag Calibration still uses only the keyboard, for everything else use the gamepad according to the menu slide. There is reasonable keyboard option, but it's really made for analog controls.
Try the first person mode!
The file is an improved version of the VR Jam submission, with better Level-Initialization and -Reset. It's still tailored to high end machines with heaps of DirectX11 Tessellation. We tried to use displacement and smooth shading instead of elaborate texturing and i'd say it worked quite well. "Fastest" isn't too bad, disables all Tessellation and should run on slower hardware. "Fantastic" hopefully runs smooth enough with nVidia Titan. At least in 1920x1200, which i think is really necessary to combat the Rift's pixels and works better than SSAA on my Radeon.
My nephews have been asking about a Rifted forklift game (They're into the Farming/Construction sims) so anything at all would have been nice. Rift Ramps is better than nice though. Very well polished with good control and goals. Didn't try it but if it supports a wheel the first person driving mode couldn't get much better. Thanks!
Thanks for the news, the Farming/Construction sims are pretty huge here in Europe. Also, we actively tried to make it as much action as possible, so it's nice Sim players can still appreciate the concept.
The driving wheel wasn't allowed for the contest... so it wasn't on our priority list. Besides, we don't have a driving wheel and it would be nice to have a special one with the ability to turn more than 360 degrees to be like a real forklift's driving wheel.
