Great post mortem, Nilspferd. You had a very solid game submission and I was surprised it wasn't a finalist.

Like you, I think lack of marketing may have hurt my game submission. I focused more on making a well polished fun and bug free game. Looking back I can see how Snow Fight may seem like a boring name/ concept until you play it.

Nice, on a Gamasutra blog even, thanks for sharing, very insightful. That organic compressed learning-by-doing experience is really a great outcome of the jam, indeed. Added to the top list!

We had issues developing without having a Gear VR. Here is the Soldiers of Heaven Post mortem... http://www.coqui.io/2015/06/the-sohvr-o ... st-mortem/

Wow that's one hell of a tricky attempt, competing without a Gear. But reading your considerations, understandable. As a fellow UE4 developer I can only say it's indeed not easy to get UE4 projects running on the Gear, lots of trial and error with our project as well.
I've added your article to the top post, thanks for sharing!

Powerful game idea btw. The concept reminded me of a game I made when still studying, where you play as an undercover photographer in Guantanamo Bay. Hopefully you can get your hands on a GearVR, develop it further and get it out there.
