Issue Adding Visa Card for WhatsApp Cloud API - 'Card Type Not Supported' Error

Hi, I'm trying to add my Visa card for the WhatsApp Cloud API but keep encountering an error that says, "Card type is not supported." I’ve confirmed that the card details are correct and have checked with my bank to ensure there are no transaction restrictions. Despite this, the card isn’t being accepted. Occasionally, it also shows "something went wrong" when I try to add the card.

Could anyone guide me on how to successfully add my card to use the WhatsApp Cloud API for my WhatsApp number? Thank you!

It sounds like the issue might be related to Meta's payment processing system not supporting your specific Visa card type. Since you've already confirmed that your card details are correct and there are no bank restrictions, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Supported Payment Methods: Meta may have restrictions on certain Visa card types (e.g., prepaid or specific international cards). Review Meta’s official documentation to ensure your card is supported.

  2. Use a Different Browser or Device: Sometimes, payment-related errors occur due to browser cache issues. Try adding the card using a different browser or device.

  3. Clear Cache and Cookies: If you're using the Meta Business Manager or another payment-related software, clearing your browser cache and cookies might resolve temporary glitches.

  4. Try a Different Payment Method: If possible, try adding a different Visa card or another payment method, such as PayPal, to see if the issue persists.

  5. Check for Software Updates: If you're using any third-party software or integrations for WhatsApp Cloud API, ensure they are up to date, as outdated versions might interfere with the payment setup.

  6. Contact Meta Support: If none of these steps work, reach out to Meta’s support team with a screenshot of the error and details about your card type. They can provide specific guidance on resolving the issue.
